Hiking in report graphs and other activities
Former Member
I notice when I run the graphical reports... that only running, cycling and walking show up. Hiking does not appear (this could be included in walking). Also distance and events of other activities does not show up. The distances are in the progress report table though. At a minimum it would be good to have Hiking included in the walking category in the graphs. And perhaps also all other activities in an 'other' category. Thanks

We will make note of this request for you and as more requests come in this might be added. "
My activities are cycling and walking, but only cycling shows as a separate category (and I don't have 'other').
So Mr/Ms Garmin please update reports to show all categories (you could easily reduce the complexity of categories).
I've worked in IT for 20yrs and know how easy this is and am surprised that people have to ask/beg for this simple feature.
+1 for this feature request. It's crazy that they have the category 'hiking', but then don't allow reports to be generated. I don't want to have to categorise my hiking as 'other'. Will consider switching to TrailRunner which is much more flexible.
I like the Garmin Connect feature that activities can be classified in a variety of types, like road cycling, trail running or indeed hiking. I cannot understand that users cannot report on activities they pick in the list. What is the point of categorising them? Disappointing.
Agreed, there needs to be a hiking feature for the reports tab. I am big into hiking as well as other activities and having that data show would be great. This is especially true since many multisport watches are now including hiking data. It seems strange to me that my downhill skiing, snowshoeing, and paddling will all show up but hiking will not. Please add this feature
I just got my Forerunner 15 in January. For the first couple of months walking showed up in reports fine (as walking), while snowshoeing and cross-country skiing showed up as "other". Good enough for me. Now all of a sudden it seems only running is included in the reports - is this a glitch, or has it really changed? I sure hope not - if none of these other activities are included, the device is virtually useless for me!
Yes, it would be nice to see hiking "count" in the reports. For me personally, I don't mind just calling it walking instead, as long as that works! For a while there it seemed nothing except running was being entered, but that seems to have been a temporary glitch. After signing out and back in a couple of times, the reports at least seem to be working the same way they did last month. But seriously, Garmin, why the prejudice against hiking?
