Updated: Are you having issues uploading to Garmin Connect?

8/26 3pm CST Update:

The original issue of not being able to upload activities that started late on 08/25 was fixed around 8am CST on 08/26. The issue however remains for many of you not being able to upload activities that you attempted to upload when our site was down. We believe this is due to the fact that Garmin Connect detects what it thinks are activities that it had previously uploaded successfully when the system was broken. Many of you are mentioning that when you currently sync, things appear to work as intended short of seeing your recent activities in Garmin Connect. To correct this issue the only solution is to manually upload any activity that will not currently upload to Garmin Connect. To do this please follow these steps:

  • Log into your Garmin Connect account
  • Connect your device to the computer via USB (devices that transfer via ANT will need to skip this step)
  • From Modern View go to your activity history
  • From the Activities screen click "Import" from the left hand side of the screen
  • From the pop up window click "Browse" and locate the activity file that you want to upload to Garmin Connect (ANT device users please read the following FAQ which will provide the location of where your activity files are stored on your computer: Why are my activities files not being stored on my computer once I have uploaded them to Garmin Connect using Garmin Express?
  • Once the file is located click the "Upload activities from file" button


The pop up window should then indicate whether or not the file uploaded successfully.

Another easy way to quickly tell if the issue described in the first paragraph is the problem is to create a short activity on your device and then try and upload it. We believe that file will upload successfully. If you still cannot upload your activities please post a reply to this thread using the template outlined below.

To wrap up on behalf of Garmin we would like to extend a sincere apology for any inconvenience anyone has experienced as a result of not being able to upload their data to Garmin Connect.

    Edge 500 isn't uploading using any method today. Just sits there and spins. My ride from the 27th uploaded, but the previous one was lost. Spent some time on the phone with Garmin, was only able to import that lost ride from Strava so I at least have the distance and map. Pretty frustrating.

    What method did you use? Garmin Express? Garmin Connect Mobile? EXPRESS
    What device are you uploading your data from? Forerunner 610
    Are you getting any type of error message when you are uploading? If so what does the error message say? No. It says transfer complete (although was done suspiciously quickly)
    What happens when you attempt to upload the file manually? Do you get a success message or an error? No file on computer for the 2 "lost" activities from this morning
    What is your Garmin Connect username? (likely the same as your forum username but please note if otherwise) alisonwonderland

    I have done a ten second dummy activity just now and this synched fine and also I could find the .fit file and upload it manually (though it noted I'd already synced it)
    The two real activities appear not to have reached my Mac

    I have two activities, one from yesterday and one from today that I tried to upload and neither appears in my GC activities. I tried a simple activity and that uploaded ok. There don't seem to be any files on my PC either for the 2 activities, I can see other activity files but nothing for these 2.

    When did you last try to upload your data? Tried several times today latest at 17:11.
    What method did you use? Garmin Express? Garmin Connect Mobile? I use Garmin Express.
    What device are you uploading your data from? I am uploading from a Forerunner 410.
    Are you getting any type of error message when you are uploading? If so what does the error message say? No error messages, just "Sync Complete".
    What happens when you attempt to upload the file manually? Do you get a success message or an error? No new activities are found when I try the manual upload.
    What is your Garmin Connect username? (likely the same as your forum username but please note if otherwise) Username is WestWay9.

    The 2 activities are both still on my 410 but won't transfer.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    No error, just syncs forever. Also tries to sync wigth activity from 1989
    • What happens when you attempt to upload the file manually? Do you get a success message or an error?
    Found the files but all where old, the ones corresponding to the pending activities are no there. When I tried to upload the old ones it told me that they had been already uploaded.

    Same issues here. Error message says "Sorry, we couldn't sync your device. Please try again."

    In Connect, it says there is nothing to sync.

    When did you last try to upload your data? Today, Aug 31, a few times today

    What device are you uploading your data from? Forerunner 205

    So I did the required upload method i.e. to upload a gpx file from my PC (iMac) to Garmin Connect prior to (hopefully) sending to my device (Edge 1000) but when completing the final step i end up with a red X and the message 'Undefined'. So i have a big tour of the Alps imminent and need to download the routes to my brand new, bought just for the occasion, Edge 1000. PLEASE CAN YOU HELP!!!

    My Connection Problem Is Annoying. Getting Worse and Worse.

    Hi, I keep trying but nothing seems to be working. I have one week of workouts that I can't upload to Garmin Connect and I couldn't uploaded manually as well...I couldn't find "activity history" in my Garmin Connect account. Please, I need help.


    Everyday I have to try everything; most of the time it does not work. The problem is getting worse. I have two Windows 7 computers and both have the same connection problem. Garmin engineers have to work this out, this is my view.

    My last successful upload was August 11 (!). I have tried: deleting from Express and repairing, uninstalling and reinstalling Express, updating Express (most recent version: 3.2.18.0), erasing old workouts (I've saved the ones after August 11 though--I want to upload those!), reverting to ANT Agent, deleting ANT agent, restarting the watch, deleting my Vivofit from Express (I can sync it using my phone). Nothing works. I always get the message "Sorry, we couldn't sync your device. Please try again." After a few seconds, it tries again automatically, in an infinite loop, unless I turn off my computer or completely exit Express. In the more granular view offered by ANT agent, it successfully receives activities and laps, but crashes when receiving tracks (after about 30-40%), giving the error message "Last transfer with device Forerunner 410 on (date/time) failed," and then starting up again after a minute or so, only to fail again.
