Adjusting scale on elevation chart

Hi there

How can I adjust the scale on the elevation charts? It appears to default to showing -50 - +50 metres. The hills I run do not go below sea level (0) and only up to about 35m, so having the scale go from 0-50 would be preferred.

Thanks
  • You can take your mouse pointer and drag out a selection box over the part of the graph you want to view and that will adjust the scale somewhat.

Not sure if this was part of your question, but unless your device lets you set elevation points and you have set them, then the sensor is not corrected for atmospheric pressure, and the elevation you see is relative to standard pressure of 29.92 in Hg. If the barometric pressure is 30.92, your elevation reading will be 1000 feet less than actual.

yes i find this very frustrating as well, its simply a graphing thing and mine for whatever reason goes down to -200M which is just silly and it ruins the visualisation of the climbs and i simply can not see any way to change it.
  • Most of my activities are biking and over 35 miles. I find the graphs give a reasonable perspective of the profile of my rides. I had a discussion with a runner that was not happy with the way they displayed. But I don't run, so I guess I can't say for sure. Certainly my 5 and six mile walks seem adequately displayed.

If dragging a selection box to the x,y limits you want don't help you, then maybe the graph can't look like you wish.

In the last month the elevation scale on Garmin Connect has increased to be virtually useless to me - I run with small hills with increases of 75 - 100 ft over 6 -10 mile runs

Its just changed without warning - and is still ok on my android app but not on the PC.

Can I change this!!!!? Its very irritating!

I would like the scale for elevation to be set automatically based on the actual course you upload.
Now it seems to be some sort of general scale like ±200m or +200m to -100m.
This is often to rough and will not show the profile in a good way.

I have a Vivoactive HR and the elevation scale for activities is 0-7,500'. Since most of my activities are at about 5400', the profile is almost flat. Even if I zoom in on part of the ride, the scale still starts at 0. The underlying data is correct; it shows me starting and finishing at the correct altitude, so I think this is just a display problem. My Garmin 520 bike computer does not have this problem.

    Same complaint

I also do all of my activities around 5400' (Boulder) and the elevation graph is pretty much useless. I'm also looking for a way to adjust the scale or a FW update to auto-scale the elevation.
  • Most of my activities are between 30 & 60 meters above sea level. The graphs are no better for me on Connect either!

Same problem with GC. However, the scale is good in GC mobile on the phone. With Garmin Connect it's a little better if you click the 2 arrows above the graph on the right side.
  • So this has been an issue for over 8 years. I have the exact same problem, maybe time to fix this? Scaling of axis is very simple to code, I have done it many times myself. It would be nice to hear from Garmin on why this is not corrected.
