Sharing workouts always shows in metric?

Whenever I share a workout on Facebook, whether directly from garmin or by copying and pasting the link, the snapshot on Facebook shows in statue, but if you click on the link. It shows distance and elevation in metric. I know there is a link in the upper right hand corner, and it still says "view in metric" (like it's not already in metric). I click in it to view in metric, nothing changes, click back to "view in statute" and distances and elevation are still in metric. I realize the US is the oddball here, but is there any way to have this show in miles? Thanks!

Same issue for me. This seems like a pretty basic piece of functionality. I never had this problem until the new modern UI changes took place. Before the modern UI changes the runs I shared always displayed in miles even if I wasn't logged in. It's been this way for 3 or 4 weeks now, so I would hope that Garmin will be pushing a fix soon.
  • Been having same issue. But only one person keeps telling me about it. bugs him. It posts on Facebook page as Standard, but when he clicks my link its metric. A friend just now confirmed what shows on facebook is standard, but when he clicked on it, it came up metric. Intersting note: he found if he signed in, then clicked link its standard.

Scratch head. No big deal to me. I still did the distance.

But be nice if they fix it. Not even sure how to let them know the issue is bothering us all. I tired on the facebook garmin connect, but no one responded. I searched the web page but issues takes me to my watch, not issues with the web page.

I, too, am having same issue. Not convinceed it is a Facebook issue. It is in and comes from Garmin app. How could Facebook possibly change it. I had attempted to use another app to post from, i.e. mapmyride/run but would much prefer to simply use Garmin Connect.

Someone from Garmin replied to my email request for support.

"This is an issue that we are aware of and looking into this issue."

I gave them some info that they requested.

Seems like nothing we can do now but wait and hope they fix it.
  • Thanks for the info that they are aware of the problem. Should be a trivial fix, I would hope. At the very least, the link to change units at the top of the screen should actually work!

Just FYI, this is NOT a Facebook issue. If I copy the link of my activity from Garmin's Activity Page when I am logged in and then logoff and paste the link into the browser location box (Chrome or IE does not matter) it shows up in metric and sometimes a different language. Weirdness also happens when I try to import the garmin activity to logyourrun or mapmyfitness (I now suddenly in the last few weeks have to make corrections, but not every time). IF I am logged into Garmin Connect then pasting the link shows miles as well as if I follow the link from a site. Follow my link to test it out... http://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/573584578 --- Not a FB thing at all.
  • Agreed, it's definitely not a Facebook problem. I ran in to this while trying to share the URL with friends over IM/email. It's astounding they can't even come up with a quick workaround for this problem.

Just wanted to add that I definitely have this issue with sharing activities as well. The pattern I noticed is that it only happens with sharing the activity through my mobile device (Galaxy S4). If I share through the android app it posts the little thumbnail summary in metric, and also if you or someone clicks the link it's set to metric as well. If I share the same activity using my computer it does it just fine and keeps it in Imperial/US units.

I've contacted Garmin about this before and they asked me some questions to try and gather info on how this issue is occurring. Hopefully they have a fix brewing, very annoying.
