Segment leaderboards not populating

OK, I give. About a month ago I created a few segments from existing, unlocked activities. The leaderboards did not populate even though there was a notification they would. Yesterday I deleted them and created some new segments which I knew I would cross. Again, leaderboard doesn't populate although I have ridden 2 of the segments since they were created.
Is there some secret word I need to utter to make the segment leaderboards populate? Using an Edge 810.

Any help would be appreciated.

  • The segments have been a bit of a let down! Strava takes seconds to populate the leader boards! I have created segments over 2 weeks now with no leader boards yet!

    To make your life less stressful, just pretend that segments do not exist on Garmin Connect.
  • Ignoring a problem doesn't make it go away. Besides, many people have purchased a particular product because of the segment feature.

    Why do they advertise a feature then if it doesn't work.

    At least they should give their customers some feedback - will it take a week, a month, a year to fix????!!

    Yes, I'm wondering the same thing. I think it's a cool feature, and would like to use it, but it's not the end of the world if it doesn't work right away, to me. I would just like to know why it doesn't work, if it will work eventually, and what we can do to help fix it. It sucks there seems to be no response with any of these issues. I have one segment populated and, but not updated. I'll just assume for now, that Garmin is indexing hundreds of thousands of runs from the past for segment activity, and it is a lot of data to parse. Or maybe they are prioritizing some areas, one can only assume their algorithms for parsing all this data is inefficient and unoptimized.
  • Typically the larger the company the more closed mouth it is about anything. If they said segments would be fixed by a certain date, can you imagine the clamor of people ranting that we'd see if they missed that date.

    Will it take a week, a month, a year.......just not that simple to say with programming. Once a date is set, then you begin the process where someone will again shove something out to the public that is not ready for prime time.

    The whole roll out of the new GC website has been a disappointment, not just the segments.

    I think Garmin used the same people who created the original healthcare.gov site. :) Even the feds could get their act together in less time.
