Can I merge 2 Garmin connect accounts?

Hello,

I have 2 Garmin Connect accounts - can I somehow merge the data into one account? The export function only works to create .csv files which cannot be imported

Many thanks
Nina
  • I have exactly the same problem. I need to be able to merge two accounts: one from Garmin Connect and the other the account that has registration details of all my maps and hardware. Please Help!

    Details as follows:

After 2 years of using Garmin Connect with one account name and many years of having a Garmin account for other hardware, suddenly the update of Garmin Express has created a situation where either I need to merge these two accounts or have considerable hassle switching between them (or alternatively sticking with the old Ant Agent software and ignoring Garmin Express for my training activities)

There are hundreds of records on Garmin Connect under one account, and all of the registration of my hardware and maps on the other. For me to transfer one item at a time manually would be the most amazing waste of time

I need to merge two accounts also. Hopefully someone from Garmin will answer this question.
  • Has anyone had any success with this yet?
  • How about syncing one of the accounts to another service (like Strava) using Tapiriik... then change the setup of Tapiriik to sync that Strava account back to the other Garmin Connect account?
  • Ditto -- not easy way to do this?
  • yep also struggling with this one
  • The easiest way to handle this is to avoid creating multiple Garmin Connect accounts in the first place.

There is nothing built into Garmin Connect to do this. The Tapiriik service can be used to export all of your activities from Garmin Connect to Dropbox. You can then reconfigure Tapiriik to sync activities from Dropbox back to a different Garmin Connect account. This seems like the simplest way to deal with this.
  • I also have this issue. Has anyone tried the Tapirik service option and had success with it? (Before I embark on a potentially fruitless task, or create even more of a mess!).

I'd do it to something like Strava though to preserve the content data in GarminConnect fully - where either GPX or TCX export to Dropbox would not.
  • I'm pretty sure that there is no way to get the data out of Garmin Connect in its original form. If you have all of the data in its original form, then great. Given that this all started when switching to Garmin Express, chances are good that the .fit files are sitting on your computer in the activities folder. If they are there, then you just need to manually upload each of those files to Garmin Connect.

If you don't have all of your original data, or there are so many files that you don't want to upload them one at a time, I'd seriously consider using Tapiriik. The advantage of Tapiriik is that it does all of the heavy lifting. It can transfer all of your data from Garmin Connect account#1 to Service, and then it can be reconfigured to transfer from Service back to Garmin Connect account#2. You get to decide whether Service is Strava or Dropbox (or RunKeeper, or SportTracks, or TrainingPeaks, or RideWithGPS, or Endomondo) and it does everything else.
