Modern Garmin Connect - doesn't recognize connected device, not able to upload

Under the "Device" widget, there's a message, "You have no device on Garmin Connect".
However, the device (810 in this instance) is connected on Garmin Connect - therefore I couldn't upload activities.
I switched back to "Classic view" and was able to upload by clicking on
Suggestion - put the "search for devices" button into the Modern View.
Also, in general switching to see detailed activities is much slower - the Modern View might be more appealing but needs the at least the same speed as the Classic.

i have the same problem with my 910, i think i may go for a bike ride today as well. and see if my 510 is having the same issues as well. i like the new layout, but there's definitely some issues.

****Edit*** i might have figured it out..... originally when i setup up express i still had garmin ant running. i've since then made sure it doesnt boot when i turn on my computer (havent deleted it yet) i just went back to express and removed my 910, and then did the process over again of adding a new device (much of this was skipped the first time i did it, i believe it was a garmin ant conflict) so it reconnected to my 910 and then i tried using IE to open up garmin connect and low and behold there was like 5 910's connected to the page, i removed them all but one and now my 910 displays as it should. i also tried it in chrome and it was working as it should as well.

hope this helps someone else out!

I have a similar but different problem, i have both Edge 500 and 510. I set the 500 up first and I cannot figure out how to now add the 510. When it is plugged into my computer Garmin Modern does not see it. Anybody know how to add additional devices?

I have both Edge 705 and 500 on different bikes. Both are recognised in Classic view and download OK, but in Modern view it persists in telling me that I have no device attached. Made no difference after I updated Connect software etc etc.
Currently running 64 bit Windows on a Toshiba Portege laptop.
Please do not get rid of Classic until Modern works properly!!!

Same issue for me. Seems there is a bug with modern connect soft. Let's wait for the team to fix it ... How long (anybody of you GARMIN TEAM reading this ??)
    Thanks

I have the same problem ... my 510 (via cable) and the 310XT (via Ant) did connect OK with Garmin Express and then appeared on the modern Garmin Connect. But when I tried to connect the 910XT it appears on the Garmin Express but (unlike the 510 and 310XT) it doesn't appear as a device option on the modern Garmin Connect. The data from the 910XT will load OK but via the old Garmin Connect.
I tried your suggestion of removing the 910XT from Garmin Express first (and switched the Ant to not boot up on computer start-up) but the 910XT still appears on the Garmin Express but not on the modern Garmin Connect ... frustrating ... :-(

    Hi guys,

I had the same problem getting it to show on modern connect. It uploaded activities and they showed up on Modern Garmin but the device would still not show up in the Dashboard. This is what worked for me.
    1. I quit the old ant agent program on my mac.
    2. Next I deleted the device on Garmin Express.
    3. Turned pairing off and back on for my 910xt.
    4. Clicked on +add a device on Garmin Express and paired them.
    5. Then it led me to the permission page where I had to sign into my account. If this doesn't happen for you, your device probably won't show up.
After that everything synced and it showed up in my Dashboard. (4x- deleted the extras as poster did above. I think it still recognized attempts to add a device even though it wouldn't follow thru.) I'm sure some of this is due to having two connect.garmin formats and will disappear after they stop using the old format.
    Good luck!

I have same problem, I've used Garmin Express for a while with 'old' Garmin Connect - no problem - tonight I switched to Modern Garmin Connect - and the dashboard widget says no device connected! When i create a workload and try to download it , I'm told i need to down load Garmin Express - which I've already got!!

I installed Garmin express and still have ANT agent installed. I hooked up my 610 via cable/USB and also not recognized. Workout is uploaded via ANT but Garmin express doesn't recognize connection. Sounds like a general problem. Was this a Beta test that wasn't clearly explained?
  • The 610 cable only charges, it cannot transfer data (it has only the two contacts for power, not the four needed for both power and data).
If you have ANT agent running, that'll conflict with Garmin Express.
