Modern Garmin Connect - doesn't recognize connected device, not able to upload

Under the "Device" widget, there's a message, "You have no device on Garmin Connect".
However, the device (810 in this instance) is connected on Garmin Connect - therefore I couldn't upload activities.
I switched back to "Classic view" and was able to upload by clicking on
Suggestion - put the "search for devices" button into the Modern View.
Also, in general switching to see detailed activities is much slower - the Modern View might be more appealing but needs the at least the same speed as the Classic.
  • Seems I had ANT running, so I went into Task Manager and killed it. Then Garmin Express said it couldn't find the ANT stick. So, I unplugged it and plugged it back in. It said it still couldn't find the ANT stick. I closed and reopened Garmin Express and same thing. So, I used Uploader to upload the data from my Android phone and it worked fine. There is not really any reason to bother with the Garmin uploading product. Unfortunately one does have to use it to download a workout.

    Still can't sync data from Garmin 910XT. Watch say's it's transferring data - to where - your guess is as good as mine. Garmin Express say's it can't sync, Garmin Connect is still only showing data prior to March 16th. Right now, I'm so frustrated, when I'm out doing running, biking, hiking, etc...& someone ask's me about my watch - - I tell them it's a great watch, but GARMIN Co. sucks. They upgrade their software & obviously don't test it & leave the user's hanging for months. Highly DO NOT recommend to them investing in anything from GARMIN since they run such a poor company. I'll never buy anything from GARMIN again & plan on voicing this via any social network available to me. I'm FULLY disgusted & that takes alot. I'll buy a watch at the dollar store over a GARMIN product - it probably would be worth more - bang for the buck anyway.

    I am having the same problem with modern view and my 810. I have to switch back to classic view to upload my activities. Perhaps an upload button in the top right hand corner of the window for easy access could be the solution. I will be using classic view until this problem is resolved. Looking forward to modern view when its ready.
  • If you look across at the Express forums you'll see the team is aware of the fact there's no upload button ... and are currently 'looking into it'

    I have an Edge 510 and cannot get GC to recognize it when it is connected to my mac running Mavericks. The computer recognizes the device and I can read data from it but GC does not recognize in modern mode if I switch to classic mode and click upload it uploads data without a hitch. Also, there is no upload button that I can find in the modern layout. And, while i'm at it - I tried contacting support via email. The arduous process gets me nowhere. And the wait for tech support on the phone is 30 minutes. Garmin needs to do some serious work on their customer service.
  • You're supposed to install Garmin Express, which will, once you have it set up, automatically upload new activities whenever you plug your 510 into your Mac. There is an upload button in Modern (from your Dashboard, click on "Activities" in the Activities panel, then, once you get your list of activities, click on "Import"), but Express will take care of that for you. The Communicator Plugin, used by the classic mode, has been abandoned and is not used in Modern.
  • Thanks, it worked for me. I've been delaying switching from ANT to Garmin Express after an attempt to do so failed in may.

    Same problem. Removing device and re-adding it does not help. Still missing 5 workouts from August 13-26. Repeated attempts to upload prior to today (August 27). Then, when trying tonight, it DID upload today's workout but ignored the 5 previous.

    Same problem here (with Etrex 30) . Garmin Express is installed and device found and updated as a matter of course (has been for years) . Classic View works fine and finds device and all the functionality works . Switch to Modern view and the Device Widget says no device found and a link to do so via Garmin Express which simple points to the Garmin Website with install instruction and a link to Download Garmin Express ! I have given up for a while on this issue and just use strava now and might check back some time to see if they ever both to fix this . The fact there is a "switch to classic" option which if I recall was added BACK IN a long time ago because of this and other problems (modern didnt even work at all for some time , now at least it does appear to at least render ! )suggests there is no solution likely for this .
