Can no longer send workouts to FR620 - Training for marathon please help!

From Garmin Connect on a Mac (tried Safari, Chrome and Firefox) I can no longer send workouts to my FR620 (since 19th Feb).

I did have the Express Fit installed and running as well as the Garmin Communicator Plug-in.
Today I installed the new Garmin Express 3.0.1 hoping this would fix this issue but it has not. This is running and shows the FR620 as connected - syncs run ok, firmware up to date.

I have tried sending workouts with the Express Fit app running and quit - neither works. I just can no longer send my scheduled workouts:
>Garmin connect, Plan Calendar, Send Workouts to Device, I get "No device found that supports Scheduled Workouts."

If I browse to the communicator plugin link: http://software.garmin.com/en-US/gcp.html This says it is up to date (4.0.0.1) and detects my 620 ok.

620 firmware 2.50

I purchased the watch to train for a marathon and am 1/4 into my training but now can not upload new workouts so am very very upset having purchased the flagship running watch.

Does anyone have any ideas??

Thanks

Thanks for posting this info! Replying here so that I can more easily track the thread (for some reason my subscription doesn't seem to be "saving"). At least now we can be on the alert for a solution.

    I just called Garmin support.

They said this is a known issue caused by their website update. They said there are several issues.

    The problem affects all devices.

From the exasperated tone of voice and the half hour wait I gather that many people are having problems.

To get updates on this problem go to this thread.

At the top click on Thread Tools and choose Subscribe to This Thread.

Choose the option for instant email notification.

    Keep calling them:

    Support Hours

    Mon–Thurs: 8 a.m.–6 p.m.
    Fri: 8 a.m.–5 p.m.

Don't bother trying to contact them using their web form -- the server is so overloaded that it can't populate the list of devices you have to choose from to go forward.

Someone needs to let BB1975 know that while he marked the defect as fixed in that linked thread, it is far from fixed & has only gotten worse.
  • I think there is an issue with the entire site now. Attempting to access garminconnect.com earlier today just resulted in timeouts.

Different device but same issue. Really frustrated. Planning a simple workout is taking ages with no chance of success. I even failed at building a correct workout since I was really anger.

    Device: FR220

Please Garmin, fix your crazy stuff ! I would have been fired from my job position For less than that !!
  • Absolutely laughable how Garmin can push out an update and now a massive part of the functionality of my FR620 is no longer accessible. Device no longer shows up in Garmin Connect when I try to send the training plan to my FR620. Garmin sort this out please.

Days and days are running and not a single word from Garmin Guys. They should show their faces and say something.

    Come on, we are waiting.
  • If GarminConnect was client software we could have release notes showing for for each version release what is new and more importantly what bugs were fixed etc.

As this is a web based service what would be really helpful would be for Garmin to publish a clear concise web-page listing all the known issues along with a status update (fixed on date, ETA for fix), and any workarounds. This page could be kept up-to-date as the site is worked on. Another advantage would be less forum posts as people could check the status page for known issues before posting.

Sometimes I really miss free software and regret my choice to use a Garmin device.

I am only familiar with using 'mapmyrides' to create and export a course to my edge 810 so not sure whether it is a similar process for a FR device? does a FR device have a NEWFILES folder under its GARMIN folder structure when accessed from a USB/PC connection? If so then maybe you could export a gpx file to the folder as a work around whilst garmin are fixing garmin express?

Yes the FR220 and 620 have a NEWFILES sub folder.
    For your reff the contants of the GARMIN folder is;
    ACTIVITY
    EVNTLOGS
    NEWFILES
    RECORDS
    REMOTESW
    SCHEDULE
    SETTINGS
    SPORTS
    TEXT
    TOTALS
    WORKOUTS
    DEVICE.FIT
    GarminDevice.XML
