Can no longer send workouts to FR620 - Training for marathon please help!

From Garmin Connect on a Mac (tried Safari, Chrome and Firefox) I can no longer send workouts to my FR620 (since 19th Feb).

I did have the Express Fit installed and running as well as the Garmin Communicator Plug-in.
Today I installed the new Garmin Express 3.0.1 hoping this would fix this issue but it has not. This is running and shows the FR620 as connected - syncs run ok, firmware up to date.

I have tried sending workouts with the Express Fit app running and quit - neither works. I just can no longer send my scheduled workouts:
>Garmin connect, Plan Calendar, Send Workouts to Device, I get "No device found that supports Scheduled Workouts."

If I browse to the communicator plugin link: http://software.garmin.com/en-US/gcp.html This says it is up to date (4.0.0.1) and detects my 620 ok.

620 firmware 2.50

I purchased the watch to train for a marathon and am 1/4 into my training but now can not upload new workouts so am very very upset having purchased the flagship running watch.

Does anyone have any ideas??

Thanks

I have exactly the same problem. Trying to reinstall Express Fit, reset watch, reset computer - no solution ...
  • Just to add some more information.
I fired up a Windows XP VM with IE 8 - installed the communicator plugin - this also fails to send workouts to the device with the same error message.

So - seems like this issue is with garmin connect and not specific to my Mac or local set-up?

  • Similar issues reported over on the FR220 board too. You might be able to send individual workouts to your watch from a compatible ios device running the Garmin Connect app, if you got access to one. Not ideal, but may get you through a few of your scheduled workouts while the Garmin Connect feature is gubbed.

    I just called Garmin support.

They said this is a known issue caused by their website update. They said there are several issues.

    The problem affects all devices.

From the exasperated tone of voice and the half hour wait I gather that many people are having problems.

To get updates on this problem go to this thread.

At the top click on Thread Tools and choose Subscribe to This Thread.

Choose the option for instant email notification.

    Keep calling them:

    By Phone

    U.S.: 913-397-8200
    U.S. Toll-free: 800-800-1020

    Support Hours

    Mon–Thurs: 8 a.m.–6 p.m.
    Fri: 8 a.m.–5 p.m.
    Central Time (Closed Holidays)

Don't bother trying to contact them using their web form -- the server is so overloaded that it can't populate the list of devices you have to choose from to go forward.

  • Thanks for the update Foxmajik - I'm in the UK so our support line is now closed - I'll call them Monday am.

I was really happy with this watch when I bought it a few weeks ago but since the 2.5 firmware it reboots often and now the web-portal is very broken!

I spent ages debating between the RF620 and a Suunto Ambit2S - I'm now begging to regret going with the Garmin.

Lets hope Garmin get their code fixed soon.

I bought this watch to do a medical study.

Now I find I've spent $600 for a plastic puck.

    I've informed The Consumerist: http://consumerist.com/
  • Count me as another new 620 user who just lost the ability to send workouts from the calendar -- at least I already had the next few weeks already loaded!
  • Can you work round it by sending the workouts individually from Plan->Workout?
Not a good long term fix, of course, but better than not being able to use them while Garmin fix this.

    The same with my 910xt
  • Add me to the list. 620 user on a mac. This week has been a nightmare for my Garmin. First it locks up on a 6 mile run every half mile with Recovery Check beeping continuously, unable to connect my watch to the new app update, and now this. I guess I will be running my 15K race in the morning by feel instead of by the specific intervals I have been training with all along.
