Can no longer send workouts to FR620 - Training for marathon please help!

From Garmin Connect on a Mac (tried Safari, Chrome and Firefox) I can no longer send workouts to my FR620 (since 19th Feb).

I did have the Express Fit installed and running as well as the Garmin Communicator Plug-in.
Today I installed the new Garmin Express 3.0.1 hoping this would fix this issue but it has not. This is running and shows the FR620 as connected - syncs run ok, firmware up to date.

I have tried sending workouts with the Express Fit app running and quit - neither works. I just can no longer send my scheduled workouts:
>Garmin connect, Plan Calendar, Send Workouts to Device, I get "No device found that supports Scheduled Workouts."

If I browse to the communicator plugin link: http://software.garmin.com/en-US/gcp.html This says it is up to date (4.0.0.1) and detects my 620 ok.

620 firmware 2.50

I purchased the watch to train for a marathon and am 1/4 into my training but now can not upload new workouts so am very very upset having purchased the flagship running watch.

Does anyone have any ideas??

Thanks

Jonathan
  • Add me to the list. 620 user on a mac. This week has been a nightmare for my Garmin. First it locks up on a 6 mile run every half mile with Recovery Check beeping continuously, unable to connect my watch to the new app update, and now this. I guess I will be running my 15K race in the morning by feel instead of by the specific intervals I have been training with all along.

Well, I found a slight workaround. I was able to upload the individual workout for my race tomorrow to the watch. Just not if it is added to the calendar & you try to push the calendar to the watch.
  • Thanks LSUMEATHED.

I can confirm that if you create *NEW* workouts >PLAN >WORKOUTS you are able to Sync them individually to the FR620.

This isn't great as I had a lot of days of workouts (with interval reps etc) in my calendar - I was used to just heading out and doing the run scheduled that day. Now I have to scroll though the list of workouts to find the correct one.
Also it seems you can only delete workouts from the watch itself (not via Garmin Connect).

I hope the Garmin developers have been working the weekend on bug fixes!

Thanks for the additional info and for doing all that work.

Can you confirm if you can upload the data from your watch and see it on the website?
  • Yes - this works ok - the 620 has wf-fi upload and this seems to be working just fine.

Thank you for fixing the typo in my name. ;)

Upload via the iPhone app is still wonky. It takes forever & fails out each time before it completes. I haven't tried via wi-fi. The fastest way is still via USB & that literally takes 2-5 seconds to upload. From there, you can see all your data with no problems.

I'm in the same situation. I have my entire training plan in my Connect calendar & I just push the entire thing to my watch. I then have my workouts ready to go under "today's activities". I have resorted to going to other dates in my watch to find the right workout as I repeat certain interval workouts on certain days.

I knew that these kind of issues were possible/likely by being an early adopter of the 620, but I never thought Garmin would push a massive clusterf**k like this live without adequate & thorough testing.
  • Incredibly frustrated here as well. I use the predetermined training plans from Garmin and can't upload even those. And, since I didn't generate the workouts manually for that training plan, they don't show up in the "Plan-Workouts." So, the workaround doesn't even work for me.
  • I had the issue of not being able to send individual workouts to my Garmin 500. (seemed to be workouts I created with in the last week). My work around was to put them in my calendar and then send calendar to device.

I never realized how much I rely on the workout feature until it is broken! Hopefully they take care of this soon.

Strike that. This morning I modified an existing workout I had in Connect & tried to manually upload it to my watch. While everything on my MacBook Air looked like it worked, even giving me the message that the workout was successfully transmitted to the watch, the workout never made it to the watch.

So now I have no way whatsoever to send a workout to my watch.
