New Garmin Connect iPhone App Sync Problems

So the new connect App is here. Looks smart.

However after today's ride there was no success uploading (Syncing) the new activity from the device (Edge 810).

Phone and Edge paired successfully and I have redone the pairing process to be sure. Also I have restarted both the Device and iPhone.

The little info bar at the bottom of the app screen says:

Syncing with Nick's 801

The soon after:

Sync Failed
Device Connection Error


Anyone else having the same problem?

    My iPhone 6 has stopped syncing with my Garmin 810 since the last stupid Garmin update. When I turn on my Garmin the phone tries to sync but it ALWAYS fails now. I've tried all the solutions discussed here including deleting the app, reinstalling repairing the devices, etc. Still the same stupid problem.

    Garmin, what the hell!! You have the worst software programers in the world. For every problem you try and fix you create even more. My experience with my 810 has been so frustrating. In the rare instances it works, it's great. However, over 50% of the time something isn't working right. If you can be bothered, please fix this ongoing sync issue between iPhone and Garmin Edge.

    This is 1000% true for me and my 920XT. 50% of the time something is not right. It drives me absolutely insane to spend $500 on something that is truly great 50% of the time. I'm fully loaded into the Garmin ecosystem but over the last several years my patience is wearing thin. They do indeed have the worse software programmers in history. I seriously don't understand it. It can't be that difficult for a company like Garmin to get it together.

    My 810 used to sync about half the times. This was frustrating, but I got used to this. As of this morning, it doesn't sync anymore. I tried to reboot the phone and the device, tried to reinstall the app on my iPhone 6: nothing worked. I also have an XT920 and it works fine. I am growing a love-hate relationship with Garmin because I keep having issues after issues. I am always fearing loss of data and additional headaches. I'm just sick and tired of this. Doesn't Garmin test its systems and softwares before releasing them?

    This. I use the 510 and it works fine by itself (knock on wood). But the connect app has become worthless. iPhone 6 w latest iOs. Never ever syncs now and nothing has worked. We'll not see any answer other than call support. Been there done that and nothing works. I have bought my last Garmin product.

    same problem here. there's something very wrong with the garmin connect app if it cant perform the 1 function i have it for.

    i cannot get my activities from my garmin watch to my phone. im using a garmin 620 + iphone6 and i have the latest software updates on both.

    it was working fine a few weeks ago but not anymore. i think i've had a software update on the watch in the last few weeks so im guessing that's what killed it.

    VERY, VERY ANNOYING!

    This worked for me, was able to do it the last three rides. When finished with my ride, on my 510 I hit the pause key and then Save, at this point the sync to my phone fails. Device says sync failed and my phone has the red line on the bottom of the app. Then from the 510, i navigate to my rides, last ride, hit the upload button on the 510, 2 seconds later the 510 says upload complete.. my phone still says sync failed, but its lying.. the ride is there and i am on my phone and pc looking at the data with no issues...

    Your method worked for me. Was having the exact same problem. Went through this whole thread. Seems like it's an 18 month problem now. But your work around got my ride uploaded. Thanks very much.

    Doesn't work for Vivoactive users...this is really annoying!
  • Can't help but think if you are having issues with the Garmin Mobile app, that maybe you'd get some answers in the Garmin Mobile App forum.

    For the most part though, this is a user to user help forum, so if you don't get a response to your query, then call Garmin Support. You can go through their email process, but, IMO, calling is worth the expense and time holding in the queue.

    And here we are, over two years since this thread started - another update - and connection problems once again.
    Almost every freaking time there is an update, there are connection issues!!
    If the Garmin-BT house of cards isn't broken, the website is down...
    Oh, and LiveTrack is also broken.
