Editing Activities in Garmin Connect

Hi all.

Sorry to post this if it has already been covered but I tried a quick search with no immediate luck so I thought I'd put it out there anyway...

In Garmin Connect, is it possible to edit the sections of an activity. For example, in a swim this morning, I stopped mid-set at the end of a lap to empty the water out of my leaky goggles. It recorded that short period of time as a lap so that particular set ended up being 450m instead of 400m (but apparently I swam that 50m in about 20s which I was rather impressed by  ). Is there a way to delete the "phantom lap" from the activity? Alternatively, can I edit the details to change it to a rest period of 0m in length?

Similarly, I've been for rides and runs in the past where I forget to hit the stop button when I get back home. I wander around for a few minutes and then realise that it's still recording. Is there a way to truncate the activity in Garmin Connect at the point when I actually stopped the ride/run and effectively delete the bits where it recorded me taking off my shoes and grabbing a drink etc etc?

    Modifying an activity

First off, I'd like to point out that I love my Garmins. There are two 920XT and one 810 in use, and an old 305 lying around the house somewhere. They've served me well over the years and I love the Connect interface (both web and Android app). But...

+1 as I also seem to be having a similar issue.

In short, I pressed LAP at the end of my run session instead of stopping the activity, which resulted in my walk home being recorded, which completely throws the stats.

I've tried the export-modify-import route with both TCX and GPX formats, but notice the following fields are missing when compared to the original activity:

    GPX

    • Calories
    • Device
    • Stride length
    • Run cadence
    • Vertical ratio
    • Ground contact time balance
    • Segments
    • Time in Zones

    TCX

    • Stride length
    • Vertical ratio
    • Ground contact time balance
    • Time in Zones

For completeness, additional fields such as Category and Gear are also missing but these can be added manually.

All of the above data (ie. my data) is considered valuable enough that the devices collect and collate, surely I should be able to download it...?

If Garmin are unable to implement Strava-esque cropping functionality (as mentioned in previous posts) in the near future (or at all), please can you consider adding these additional fields to the exported data as this would make the manual export-modify-import workflow a more worthwhile workaround until the functionality is added to the site. Personally, I feel they would be best added to the TCX file as this is the most comprehensive of the two (not to mention that it is also Garmin's own proprietary schema/format).

    Sure you can, easy!

Still we don't have this functionality in 2016? Damn...

Simply login to the Garmin portal and under the ‘Activites’ widget, click the Cog Icon and then click "Go to Full Page" from the drop down menu,

Once you are on the full page, click on any activity name to view the full details of that activity,

Once the activity has loaded, simply click the edit icon in the top-right hand corner,

Now you can edit the key details of your activity, including duration, calories, heat rate, pace, etc.
  • I'm waaay late to this thread, but Thank You Larnior for posting the directions. They work great!
    Enjoy Today,
