Editing Activities in Garmin Connect

Hi all.

Sorry to post this if it has already been covered but I tried a quick search with no immediate luck so I thought I'd put it out there anyway...

In Garmin Connect, is it possible to edit the sections of an activity. For example, in a swim this morning, I stopped mid-set at the end of a lap to empty the water out of my leaky goggles. It recorded that short period of time as a lap so that particular set ended up being 450m instead of 400m (but apparently I swam that 50m in about 20s which I was rather impressed by  ). Is there a way to delete the "phantom lap" from the activity? Alternatively, can I edit the details to change it to a rest period of 0m in length?

Similarly, I've been for rides and runs in the past where I forget to hit the stop button when I get back home. I wander around for a few minutes and then realise that it's still recording. Is there a way to truncate the activity in Garmin Connect at the point when I actually stopped the ride/run and effectively delete the bits where it recorded me taking off my shoes and grabbing a drink etc etc?

We pay too much for your devices for you not to support a feature that pretty much everyone else supports. Let us edit out dead time in our tracks.

    Editing Swim Data

Up unitl about two weeks ago, in garminconnect I was able to click the pencil icon and edit most parameters of my swim intervals. Now I can only edit the name of the segment, the location, and the temperature. There appears to be no ability to edit the distance, which is critically important for me since my Garmin Swim does not detect kick lengths due to lack of arm movement. So I kick 500 yds and the Garmin Swim detects maybe 25 yds, although the elapsed time is correct. For several years this was no problem since I could manually correct the distance.

Now something has changed on the garminconnect server side and my ability to edit is extremely limited.

Please advise as to why this change was made and please restore our ability to edit the parameters of a swimming interval.

Ditto for me. Being able to edit/correct data is a requirement for this type of software.
  • It seems that the workouts for swimming are a bit too little flexibile in programming.
It seems impossible programming a session like this:
    - 400 mt warm-up
    - 100 mt backstroke
    For 3 times:
    - 100 mt freestyle (restart at 2')
    - 200 mt freestyle (restart at 3'30")
    - 300 mt freestyle (restart at 5'15")
    - 400 mt freestyle (restart at 7')
    - 100 mt backstroke

How can we do for this kind of workouts?

strava lets you edit your ride with a slider. it takes about 20 seconds to fix a ride after forgetting to press "STOP" at the end of a devastating workout. come on garmin, where are you?

NEILMICHEL, how exactly you can cut the part that was stopped?
    Tks.
  • On the Strava page for the activity, click on the spanner (wrench) icon on the left and select crop.

Not sure if it's a premium feature or part of the free site.

I second this - it's so annoying. Does anyone know of a workaround???

I found if you change it from lap swim to swim you can change the distance. I hope this helps
  • Fixing uncorrect lap sequence in swimming

I'm pretty new to swim tracking, as only recently I bought myself a 735XT.

Yesterday I did a 600mt. session which ended up tu be 650mt., I guess because halfway the lap I switched from breaststroke to freestyle.
This of course messed up all my stats.

Then I discovered some of my other laps were saved as backstroke, maybe because I did flip turns also when swimming breaststroke.
It seems there's no way to edit and correct an activity within the app; did I understand correctly ? XML file editing is the only way ?

    TIA

I've done the samething and I wish I could edit the route back to my original start like I can do with Strava, but they call it cropping. Actually, Strava will red flag the activity when it notices something wrong with the activity, like driving away from the starting point without stopping the activity. So I can crop the activity with Strava, but not with Garmin Connect.
