Since some time I have a Tanita BC 1000 scale, and I read my data into Garmin Connect. I always found the daily calorie intake calculated by Tanita (or Garmin Connect, don't know) pretty high (it is around 3,500 kcal for me). I decided to revise my activity level downwards to 0, to check the impact on the daily calorie intake, but to my surprise it has no effect at all!
So now I am wondering how they come up with the daily calorie intake figure? I tried to Google it, but could not find an exact answer or formula. Ideally, I would like to derive my BMR from the formula, so that I can calculate my daily calorie needs myself. Does anyone have more info on how they calculate the DCI?
