Incorrect Weather/Temperature source on new Garmin Connect feature

Hi.
I live in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

It's nice that Garmin Connect has included the weather recording on the activity info/summary. However, it has been collecting temperature from the source SBAF, which is an airport in the state of Rio de Janeiro, but way farther than the SBRJ source, a more common airport and closer to the activities most people from Rio post.

The temperature differences between SBAF and SBRJ are pretty high. Therefore I have to keep checking the real temperature in other sites to complement/correct/update my activities' info.

I suggest changing overall weather source for Rio de Janeiro activities from SBAF (Afonsos airport) to SBRJ (Santos Dumont airport). This will benefit the vast majority of Garmin runners in the state.

Also, it would be nice to include the Real Feel or Heat Index info along with the weather conditions. This is a richer variable to express weather conditions for runners than temperature.

Thanks.

It's pulled data from CYVR, the local airport, occasionally and support confirms that's one of their sources. So yes, you're right, it has everything to do with where garmin is getting it's weather data as you've pointed out. Thanks.

My gosh, I have data from a small village airport 60 miles NNW of my run location (KLZZ is airport call sign). My run was conducted about 10 miles south of the main airport in Austin, TX (population >1MM these days) and the temp. differential this morning was 10 degrees.
  • Did anyone of you ever log a ticket with support regarding this issue? I've now tried twice with zero response, might just try to give them a call. Feature is pretty useless as is currently, for me Connect is showing the weather data for what must be the helipad of an oil rig deep into the North Atlantic. At least I can brag about running in some pretty harsh conditions.

I am experiencing the similar issues. In my case, the station being used is 50 miles away and 5000' higher (I'm at 7500' in Estes Park CO, the station used is at 12400' at Berthoud Pass). Today, the temperature difference between my location and the station Garmin used was a difference of 35 degrees F. The whole thing is like a bad joke. This issue was initially reported over 4 years ago. Garmin, if you're not going to fix this, then please provide an option to suppress this bogus data altogether, or better you allow us to specify the station ID to use.
