"Connect" to friends?

I've seen this feature requested before, but nothing happened.

Is it possible we could link to others on Garmin connect, and track their rides and they, ours? This would be a great feature.

I just got my Garmin 800 with a new road bike, and yes, this is one KEY feature that seems to be missing from an otherwise excellent technology package.

I have many friends whose rides I would love to track, and we can challenge each other without actually riding together - see speeds, cadences, calories, etc. etc.

Garmin "Connect" should offer the ability for friends to connect and subscribe to each other's stats, maps and results. Set privacy so we can limit what others see?

This feature would be brilliant, and recommending this is actually the entire reason I sought out these forums in the first place.

    Feature ADDED!!

I've also been long waiting for this feature.

AND ... looks like in the past day or two, they made an upgrade to the Garmin Connect site, and they've added "Connections". Simply click on the little mail icon in the upper right corner and select Connect with Friends.

Once connected, all of your Friends recent activities get listed down the right side of your Dashboard page.
  • Well, well you did it!! You gave us this new feature in the latest release of Garmin Connect... and so far it works the way I would think it should. Thanks, and from a guy who asked for it...

No, they didn't! It's still nearly IMPOSSIBLE to connect with friends on here. I have to know their GarminConnect ID, which is often some variation of a user name, not actual name. This is ridiculous.

EVERY run tracker that I have ever used has this feature, but the company that has the resources to get it right can't.

Dailymile, Mapmyrun, Mapmyfitness, Runkeeper - THEY ALL ALLOW YOU TO SEARCH BY SOCIAL NETWORKING. GET WITH IT GARMIN.
