I know this has be threaded to near death but....I have several Garmin friends (and would like to make more) and want to have a direct link to their workouts. Also add some type of minimalist comments (doesn't have to be a Facebook killer just basic). Also make Calendar (and Health) sharing. Don't we all (or most anyway) want to have people that inspire/compete with us easily found?

I agree. One of my riding buddies has been telling me to check out his ride data, but unless he sends me the link to every workout, I'm unable to find it (even doing a search on his UserID doesn't find any of his workouts)...this is a pain...

Actually, you can search on userID -- sort of. Go to Garmin Connect, and click on the Explore tab. Then click "show filters." Type in the userid. Then delete everything in the "starting near" field (this is important). You should then get some results. But moving beyond that you will run into some bugs. I can usually only get the 10 most recent activities, and have trouble paging back beyond that.

Having said this, I agree that it would be better if they could make the explore feature much more robust.

@DW152...I tried that, but got zero results.

In addition, when he did send me a link to one of his rides, I clicked on his UserID to get a list of all of his rides. It only turned up 2 rides. He says he has four pages of rides when he logs in. We suspect it's because he only gave 2 of his rides "titles" (the rest are all labeled "Untitled", so I'm guessing that the search results ignore anything with "Untitled").

You've guessed correctly. "Unititled" is the issue, as they are automatically excluded from consideration to display on that screen at all.

I found your rides, at least the ones with titles. I'm not sure why the search ignores untitled activities (is it intentional, or a bug?), but as I posted in another response to you, it would be nice if the search function of Garmin Connect could be made more robust and useful.

I think that it was a cosmetic choice on Garmin's part to weed out "Untitled" so that the screen isn't filled with a list of "Untitled" activites on the left of the screen.

Note also that when searching it helps to clear out the "Search Near" box unless you want to narrow the search to a particular area.

It wasn't my rides that I couldn't find, but rather a friend's (he only titled two of his rides, but has uploaded dozens). And i could only find them by clicking on his UserID from one that he emailed to me...entering his UserID in the Search Filter turned up no results...

EDIT: Just tried it again, clearing out the "Starting Near" field as recommended...and was able to find my friend's 2 rides. The "Starting Near" field has a default of "Current Map View" entered into the box...without clearing out "Current Map View", the results came up nil.

Read my first post in this thread:

    I did say this was important, didn't I? :)

I guess. But not everyone takes the time to provide a title, and this seems to catch a lot of people by surprise. And I'm not sure what the problem with a bunch of untitled results would be. Whenever I've used the explore feature, I'm more interested in distance and starting point, but maybe that's me.

As someone else suggested in another thread, it might be nice if GC could give a more descriptive default title, perhaps based on the type of activity, date and time, and distance, e.g., "running_5-13-2011_1645". One of the other websites I use does this, and this would solve the untitled problem.
