Why did Garmin moderator LISAFOX16 close the thread "Thank you Garmin for destroying Garmin Connect!!!"?

After DAVID_VCS posted a really bad/nasty reply, LISAFOX16, quoted that nasty reply (Huh!), before closing the whole thread. That is what I call really bad moderation and I would even go as far as saying it childish moderation. Like a book having a swear-word on page 854, so therefor LISAFOX16 needs to ban and burn it.

PS
Garmin Connects move to Bing is really bad, armageddon bad.

Alternative to Garmin Connect that works with your Garmin GPS

All of you who are upset with Garmin Connect's switch to Bing should check out the following site. Membership is free and it works with your Garmin. I've had the best luck exporting my ride data in TCX format from the Garmin Training Center software and then uploading the file to the site, but the site also says it will work directly with your device.

    http://ridewithgps.com

I especially like how the RideWithGPS site will let you calculate your average speed for an arbitrary section of your ride.
  • RideWithGPS.com doesn't support run data...so for those of us that bike & run there is not a good alternative to Garmin Connect.

Hmm, you can't export your data in a TCX file or some format that it recognizes?

Haha, look at this - RideWithGps posted a response to Garmin's switch to Bing maps:

I use runningfreeonline.com to track my running and biking activities. I also can manually add my swimming. It's a good alternative to Garmin Connect, IMHO.

I don't consider a $350 watch "free". I bought into Garmin's product not a third party work around.

The device isn't free. In that, you are correct. The software and website Garmin provide are free however. They are simply services provided so that you can quickly analyse the activity data after completion, without having to search around for such services.

Just like the Polar and Timex offerings provided for their devices, there are other much better alternatives, both free and paid, offering better analysis.

Simply put, if you don't like the Garmin offerings, do like many of us have done and go elsewhere. The other sites will actually serve to enhance your experience with your Garmin device.

Unless you can use Garmin Connect with other devices (and perhaps you can) it is NOT free. It's like saying that if you buy a digital camera you get a free memory card to go with it. Would you get the card without paying for the camera? How about the card being usable only with the camera you buy - you can still export your photos to other cards, but if that card only works with the camera you paid for, it's not "free".

This notion of stuff being "free" is something that has been successfully ingrained in consumers by corporations for decades. In some countries though it's illegal for a company to market an item as "free" if you can't get and use it without paying (for "something else")....

    It's not free.

Do a poll on the internetz and see how many people are using Garmin Connect without having a paid Garmin product to go with it....
