Resting Heart Rate Log

I think there should be a place to record your resting Heart rate (and potentially Max HR) and have it graphed.

It could be located in Garmin Connect under the health section (perhaps below the weight graph) and allow users to monitor their resting heart rate (a sudden jump in resting HR is often an indication of when you are about to be ill) or slowly reducing resting HR can indicate increasing in fitness.

Just a thought.

Great idea. Also the recovery heart rate should be one of the parameters displayed on GC.

    +1

Would be a great feature to measure overall fitness

    Excellent idea

exactly what I was thinking! What do you think techs of Garmin?
  • Agreed - tips on manual readout?

    This would be immensely useful.

I currently put on the HR strap before I get out of bed, then start the timer on my Edge and rest for maybe 5-10 minutes (depending on whether I doze off or not).

But the resting heart rate is not steady... And you will get quite different results if you average over a few minutes, or pick the absolute minimum over 10 minutes.

See my readouts for this morning for example:
    http://connect.garmin.com/activity/75752574

What would you say my RHR is? Somewhere in the mid to high fourties I guess, but comparing such results from one run to another is difficult (unless I pick the minimum which is hardly fair).

Which brings me back to the start of the thread... Having a standard RHR readout feature in Connect would be very very useful. Thanks.

Your resting HR is recorded first thing in the morning while still in bed awake (not asleep) and for 60 seconds. Here is mine and I take the best (lowest) minute (15:27-16:34) and it averages about 43.
  • Oh yes, this would be a great new features. I'm looking if I change my training analyse tool and Garmin Connect is not bad but some features are missing.
Resting Heart Rate is really important to detect a tiredness level and so to decrease our sport activities.

I've been trying to work out how to do this. I'm using Firstbeat Athlete so was worried that by uploading this info to Connect would affect my results in the FBA training coach. FBA support recommends not uploading anything with a TE below 1.5.

So I think what I need to do is once uploaded to Connect , which would give me my HR low, delete the activity and history file from
the Garmin Application Date before I start up FBA.

    I'll try it again tomorrow.
  • Great resting HR feature - I'd agree

Currently my resting HR tests show in my weekly workouts and in my "goals" totals. I don't want to delete them. I agree having them as a graph and data in "health" would be a really nice feature, plus a toggle on and off "add to totals and goals" etc. This toggle on and off "add to totals and goals" would also be helpful if you have a double entry, like me (IE when using both a FR 610 and Edge 800)

    Resting Heart Rate log

I totally agree ... adding a resting heart rate log to the Garmin Connect Health variables would be a huge benefit!
