iPhone app or (at least a) mobile version

I think the time is more than ripe for Garmin Connect to be more oriented towards mobile units. We should get an iPhone (and/or Android) app or as a temporary solution, a site optimized for mobile units.

What do the developers say?
  • I wouldn't write off mobile phones as inaccurate toys. The newer phones have real GPS chipsets and there's plenty of development going on WRT ANT+ device adapters. You can now use an iPhone to record your data, including HR, speed, and cadence from the Garmin sensors. Not much longer before Androids get involved too.

    Not true

Nike+GPS for iPhone works very well (even without cell coverage).

I interpret the original post differently. The request might have been for the GC website to have a mobile version so that users can check their activity logs from their phones rather than from a desktop/laptop. In any case, I agree that using a mobile phone for accurate route tracking is problematic, but to me having the ability to access GC from a mobile device would be a very welcome feature!

    Hmmm..... Androids..... Google..... GPS.....

    ....hmmmm...... Microsoft....

    ...........hmmmmmmmmm...........
  • How about getting the site to work with the features we have wanted since conception ( many of which were in Motionbased.) first?

I have seen many sites which have been "given up with" as they spread themselves thinly to provide mobile phone access.

That's what I meant. I'm not looking for an app that should replace the watch since I actually don't want my iPhone with me when I run.

PS. Sorry for the late reply, I actually thought I would get a notification if anyone replied. Must have missed something in my setup.

This would be great...or at least have a non-flash based web version for tablet users...
  • I use HRM Sports Training Log FM (available in app store) it syncs with Garmin Connect and works fine. If you use Mac, I would consider RubiTrack on both Mac and iPhone, great tool

I agree, the GC website is just what I need for training and it would be great if there was an app, like the site, that could be accessed without having to log on to the web. My very search for such an app has brought me to this forum. What I want is something where I can log training manually if need be, enter notes and maybe, just maybe, follow a training plan. One of the reasons that I am searching for an app is to replace my physical training log.(When training, I find it essential to note mental and physical states plus HR immediately after the workout- on frequent occasions, such as swimming and weight training, I do not have my garmin device with me) I would definitely pay for an app designed by Garmin that would sync with my Garmin Connect. Just to be clear; I am NOT interested in a mobile app that would replace or upload information from my Garmin device. I am interested in an app, designed by Garmin, that can sync with my information with GC, and that will also allow me to edit/ update training activities manually.
  • Mobile Web for Manual Activities

While I think having a mobile web version would be nice, the feature I'd love to see first is just the ability to record a manual workout from my phone. I generally don't have my laptop with me when I finish a workout, but I do have my phone. It would be great if I could just log a workout while it's fresh in my mind.

I can pull up the Garmin Connect site on a mobile device, but the dynamic HTML does some screwy things on a smaller device.
