Cannot upload to Garmin Connect - recent problem

Former Member
Former Member
For the last three or four days, I cannot seem to upload to Garmin Connect. I have tried both IE and Firefox. I've cleared all history, caches, etc. I've reset the trusted site information to add *.garmin.com to IE's trusted sites. I've made sure that the plugins are installed by going to the garmin dashboard to make sure that they can communicate with my Edge 705. All to no avail.

All I get is the attached screen shot. I've made no modifications to my system (other than the obligatory windows updates) and have successfully uploaded about 5 days ago. At this point, I'm out of ideas.

    Internal server error

Getting same symptoms. Not able to upload. My error message is: "Internal server error".

    Anyone got good ideas?

That message means that the error is occuring on the Garmin server, and not on your computer. Probably all that you can do is report it to Garmin support. You probably don't have the problem that others are solving by clearing their cache.

I once had an activity that uploaded ok, and then when I clickec on it to view, I would get an "internal server error" indication. In that case, I was able to delete the activity from Garmin Connect, then upload it again, and it worked fine from then on. It apparently was a glitch caused by the initial upload.

Your problem might be related to a glitch in the data currently on your device.

Are you able to upload your activity to Garmin Training Center? If you can upload to Training Center, then this is what I would try
    upload activity to Training Center
export activity from Training Center and manually load it to Garmin Connect
    delete activity from the device
see if future activities upload successfully from the device to Garmin Connect

    connect problems

As you can see from my post above, tried that - on both IE and FireFox - and that didn't help. I think there is a much larger issue going on here from the posts above.

I also sent a mail to the support folks. I'm getting a bit frustrated that this has gone on as long as a week with no solution.

From those that have posted, are all of us using an Edge 705? Maybe we can at least narrow the problem down to a type of device. That way if someone from Garmin monitors the forum (not sure since no one jumped in here), they may have a bit more data to go on.

No. I am having the same problems with my Forerunner 405. I get the message: "Server problems". - And no help from support other than update my device. (have done that) . No problems with Training Center, but only with Garmin Connect. I think they (Garmin) must wake up and fix the problem NOW please.

    Working for me this morning

So I fired up firefox this morning and lo and behold, I was able to upload activities again! I didn't change anything, so maybe things are working again. Are things fixed for everyone else?

Nope. I've tried both Firefox and Internet Explorer. My biggest problem is with the data from the Tanita BC-1000 scale. There is no way to manually upload it into Garmin Connect from the 310xt. I've tried clearing the caches on both IE and Firefox like they recommend, which got rid of all of my bookmarks and favorites, and it didn't work. They need to fix this fast!

    Garmin Connect upload problem

    Garmin,

You obviously have a problem with uploading data from Garmin devices via Garmin Connect. Please give us a solution ASAP. I am trying to upload from Garmin Edge 705 and Forerunner 110. Did not have this problem a week ago. I can see the devices fine with Garmin Training Center. Please get this issue resolved.

    Are you using Internet Explorer?

    If so:

To clear cache, when you deleted files, are you sure that "temporary internet files" was checked?

If not IE, what browser and operating system are you using?

I have tried using both Internet Explorer and Firefox. I deleted everthing from the temporary internet files, including my favorites and bookmarks. This didn't work in either Firefox or Internet Explorer.

There is clearly a huge problem here that Garmin is choosing to ignore.
  • Hmmm. Not sure if is solely Garmin's fault. COuld be your ISP has cached pages that have not worked through yet. We use Chrome and Firefox without any problem.

I'm glad it's not just me. I tried clearing my cache several times and I still can't upload to Connect. I'll try Firefox, maybe I'll have some luck there - how frustrating.

UPDATE Firefox didn't work either so I played around with the ANT+ settings (Computer) on my 405 and I got it to work. I set Force Send to Yes and it took a minute, but then started uploading. Some of my other settings seemed out of whack so I tweaked those too, my 405 has crashed a lot lately so that may have reset those. Pairing is also on, Enabled set to Yes

Hopefully this will work for others.
