Garmin software for the Android phones.

I know you guys at Garmin have your Garminfone thingy but some of us already have or prefer other Android phones.

That said, do you have plans to make Garmin GPS software for the Android phones?

Seems to me, you guys would offer your software for sale rather then to wait for someone to rip if from your phones rom and port it for all Androids.

This would be something I would gladly pay for.

Garmin Android Team, snap snap! If you guys don't, you know someone will rip, crack/port it sooner or later.

    Faithful Users say Goodbye!

Like several others here have stated, it is sad that Garmin is not stepping up to the plate to meet the needs on multiple platforms, especially the fastest growing platform for cell phones--Android. Navigation aps are no longer tied to the dash of a car, but reside in a pocket! And Smartphones now meet muptiple needs, meaning one device versus multiple. Catch up Garmin!! I prefer your product! Even on my Windows phone. But now I have an Android, and where are you!!!?
  • CoPilot on Dell Streak

    come on garmin!!

I just configured my new Dell Streak 7. It comes with CoPilot and I'm trying it out. I personally like Garmin because I have a Garmin Nuvi GPS device and I love it.

If Garmin ever release GPS software for Android devices, I know I'd buy it for sure.
  • Garmin Software For The Android Phones

I guess we never did see any ASUS smartphones bundled with Garmin Android software after the A10/A50. I wonder how long the agreement is in place? If it were to expire soon, perhaps we could see a Garmin Android application in the future!

    Move aside Garmin.

Hi people. I'm done waiting (for Garmin).

I'm purchasing Papago for my Galaxy S.

It uses the maps made by the same MFM (FREE Maps for Malaysia and Singapore) and Navigasi (FREE Map for Indonesia)

Papago looks cool and is worth checking out - thanks!
  • Garmin’s Android Strategy

    http://gpstracklog.com/2013/01/why-theres-no-garmin-android-app-yet.html

When Garmin and Asus ended their ill-fated nuvifone partnership, Garmin gave Asus an exclusive for any preloaded navigation apps through the end of 2012. Because of this, quite a few Garmin watchers expect an announcement of a Garmin navigation app for Android early this year. But that may not happen.
A tough market and another option

The market for Android navigation apps is challenging; the developers must compete with the free and always improving Google Maps Navigation app that comes preloaded on Android handsets. Not that is isn’t without significant flaws, but at free, it’s good enough for most folks. The TomTom USA app has sold less than 1,000 units to date. Garmin has had more luck down under, with over 100,000 installs. Even so, when I saw this morning that Garmin had swung a deal with Samsung for preloading their Navgon app on the Galaxy Note 2, it made me wonder if Garmin wouldn’t be better off striking such deals with manufacturers. This would be a good differentiator for companies in the hyper-competitive mobile market.
    We should know soon

Regardless, the picture should be clearer by the end of February, as I’m expecting an announcement one way or the other at Mobile World Congress. Which way do you think they will go – an app you can buy or a deal with a manufacturer?

Garmin's Application for Android probably will be presented in Barcelona on February 25 - 28 at the : Mobile World Congress.
You can see already this application screenshots in our thread here:
