i've tried troubleshoothing this on the geocache site, thought i would try over here. my Legend HCx is over 1 year old, so it's out of warranty. not sure how longs it's been doing it, but it's been a while now.
i've been experiencing this problem for a while now, somoene in sweeden also had the same problem and thinks others may encounter it too, but not even know about it.
his theory is, when you are travelling in a car, towards a cache (co-ordinates), then when the car comes to rest, it someone freezes the map screen, and that's actually exactly how mine froze the other day.
when i arrive at a geocache in my car, i started walking towards it. the gps showed a direct line (navigate off road chosen) and i toggled to the data screen and it said 65M away. i start walking and the data screen distance shows 62, 60....35, 33, 5, 3 until i'm basically standing on top of the co-ordinates. i toggle back to the map screen (i don't touch the joystick button) and it still shows me a fair distance away, actually basically where the car is 65-70m away. i zoom in and out, walk around and it still does not move a bit, but the data screen continues to function as normal.
anyone, i mean anyone, has anyone else had this experience or know how to fix it. i've tried firmware updates, just did a hard reset, changed memory cards. only advise garmin gave was to update firmware even though i told them i was up to date or send it to RAYTECH in canada and pay $110+16 shipping as well as shipping charges to them. basically, the cost of a new GPS in the end.
PLEASE HELP ME.....
