Ignoring stop time

Hello,

First of all apoligies if this is an obvious question that has been answered before. I've tried searching the forums but haven't found the answer....

I have a forerunner 50 with a footpod, which I regularly use for running. Basically there are no problems. However, something I don't understand is the following. If (like today) I go for a run with a stop in the middle, when I upload the data afterwards the stop time is including in the stats, when (as far as I'm concerned), it should be excluded because I wasn't running in that time. I'll give a dummy example....

Lap 1 - 10 minutes, 2 km, ave pace 5 mins/km
Lap 2 - 10 minutes, 0 km (stopped)
Lap 3 - 10 minutes, 2 km, ave page 5 mins/km

But the overall stats read:

Total time: 30 minutes
Total distance: 4 km
Ave pace: 7.5 mins/km !!!

Surely this should read:

Total time: 20 minutes (plus 10 minutes stopped time not in stats)
Total distance: 4 km
Ave pace: 5 mins/km

Sorry to labour the point, but this is really screwing with a lot of my runs' stats. Is there any setting or way to get round this? Is this a bug? Surely the stopped time shouldn't be included in the overall stats.

By the way, this is different from a run where I do several laps without stops (more usual). The stats then are of course fine. This is only for runs that include a mid-run stop.

Thanks in advance,
Hugo Read.
  • In Garmin Connect it should be showing you average pace and average moving pace in both the summary and the splits page. Can you post a link to an activity ?

    Sure, here's the link....

    http://connect.garmin.com/activity/34728678

In the timing section it says:

    Time: 00:57:03
    Moving Time: 00:57:03
    Elapsed Time: 00:57:03
    Avg Speed: 7.9 km/h
    Avg Moving Speed: 7.9 km/h
    Max Speed: 14.4 km/h
    Avg Pace: 07:35 min/km
    Avg Moving Pace: 07:35 min/km

    But the lap times are:

    1 00:22:07 4.28 05:10
    2 00:14:13 0.00 --:--
    3 00:15:20 3.22 04:46
    4 00:05:13 0.00 --:--
    5 00:00:02 0.01 03:06
    6 00:00:07 0.01 15:43

So as you can see, it hasn't taken into account that the 14 minutes of lap two were stopped time.

Laps 4 to 6 were mistakes and are irrelevant; it's basically two runs with a stop in between. This is one example but there are plenty more in my activities with the same problem.

    Regards,
    Hugo.

Does anyone have any further insight into this?

    Thanks,
    Hugo.
