Erratic and Erroneous HRM Data 45 min into run
Former Member
After enjoying a 305 for four years, I recently upgraded to a 310xt. Quite often, about 45 to 50 minutes into a run, the heart rate spikes and I get usually high, but very erratic and erroneous readings for the rest of the run. This is very annoying and destroys some of my training goals. Some of these threads suggested the was the new, premium, soft heart rate strap. So I switched to my older original strap. Which solved the problem for about a week. But know I'm having the same problem with that one. (I've attached two typical runs, one with each strap.) I don't have this problem with the 305. Do the watches receive/process the data from the strap differently? Is there something else I can do to fix the problem, or is the 310xt flawed? Help!
Saw where someone else hooked the transmitter up to their Polar strap. Out of desperation I did the same thing and it appears to have fixed my problem with the erratic HR readings.

I've been using the Polar Wearlink Srap along with the Garmin transmitter. Works great!
