Upload keeps on hanging

Hi guys, whenever I am trying to upload my new activities in Garmin Connect, sometimes the upload process locks up and hangs.

I am using Firefox 3.6.2. On IE 7 the upload process also sometimes hangs.

I tried clearing off my older activities, but it is of no help.

I am using a 305. Please help!

    No upload

Mine has been down for several days I have seen the post on the website for about a week I thought i missed the bug but now nothing I have rebooted cleared caches everything no word from tech support
  • Despite seeing the message about the upload problem, it was just fine until today. Now it hangs the browser when "searching for devices" (both Chrome and Firefox)
  • If your browser page is hanging when searching for devices, it might pay to check your Garmin Communicator plug in is working properly.

    Garmin Communicator Test Page

Not seeing any problems here with Chrome (love that extension:D) or Firefox.
  • Something else that has been noticed elsewhere with the Garmin Communicator plug-in is that it seems to 'stall' if there are too many activities stored in the folders. This has been noticed when uploading to RunningFreeOnline.com and into SportTracks.

One solution has been to remove all but a couple of weeks worth of history (.tcx files) and/or Activities (.fit files) into another folder(s). Keep these for backup purposes. The folders are, apparently, supposed to only hold 30 days worth of activities.

Another solution, and one that proves quicker anyway, is to upload the .fit file directly. Use the 'Manual Upload' option in Garmin Connect.
  • Hi all.
First of all forgive my bad english :(
    I bougth 3 days ago a Garmin forerunner 60.
I was able to get the foot pod and heart rate monitor to link to it and did some quick jogging around the house to create an activity to see if I could download it. I followed all the instrunctions in order to download my activity's data on my pc (windows xp sp 3)
I've installed the ANT agent software before plug the ant stick, I also installed the garmin plug-in for firefox and for explorer. I've already signed-in garmin connect. The pairing process between the forerunner 60 and computer was ok indeed the pc was able to see the new device. When I look in ANT agent it lists my garmin as a device but at this point if I hold it close to the ANT receiver the ANT agent just says that it's waiting for new data.

When I open Garmin Training Center and try to read from device it almost immediately tells me that the transmit is complete yet it doesn't show any activities. If I go to Garmin Connect and hit upload it finds my device but when I go to upload new activities it never finds my activities. If I go to the history menu on the garmin I can see the activity. I can't upload my data manually on garmin connect because it doesn't exist a "history" folder with the Garmin's data, inside my computer. There's a folder with the number of my device, the same number that I saw during the pairing process but inside this folder there isn't any history folder. I installed and repeated all these operations even on another pc with Windows 7 but the issue is the same.

It sure seems like the device is capable of connecting up with the ANT receiver yet it doesn't seem to to want to give it any data.
I also noticed that every time the Ant agent try to find new activity on my device through scanning process (every 2 minutes about the ant agent scan to find new activity on my device) my forerunner changed itself the setting abotu the pairng; indeed after the scan, the pairing settings item is disabled. I enable it but the next Ant agent scan disables it again.
I try to clear my internet cache as suggested by the Garmin's advice but the problem remains.
I'll wait patiently that Garmin fix it the upload problem on Garmin Connect for ALL users, but what I really don't understand is why I can't neither upload my data locally on my pc using the Training center sofftware; this is really frustrating.
Another user has this problem take a look on this topic https://forums.garmin.com/showthread.php?t=13303
if you read it, you noticed that I copied  his sentences; sorry :( but since the problem is exactly the same and considering my bad english it was helpful for me.
Do you think is our fault or we are unlucky to buy a Garmin device exactly in the same days of Garmin Upload problem ?
    Thanks.
  • Any solutions? have same problem with Win7 computer and Vista computer. Did not have problem with XP laptop, but motherboard died and can't use anymore
  • Same problem for me with a 310xt. I get the "searching for devices screen" in GC but it never finds my device no matter how long I leave it.
Uploading to Training Centre works fine however so the problem must be with GC.
