Ability to create recipes in nutrition

Trying to move over from Cronometer.

Nutrition portion of Garmin connect has good functionality for saved foods that aren't in the database, and for commonly repeated meals, but not for creating "Recipes". (A strong feature in competitive products)

Example: We make a homemade meal that includes multiple ingredients to make one dish. Other calorie trackers allow you to create the recipe and gives you the ability to manually add the ingredients to get the entire meal, then set gram based service sizes to divide up the total recipe for successful logging. Some are manual creation only, but the one I am using today allows you to search, scan a barcode or manually add ingredients, as well as the ability to take a photo of the actual recipe to have it auto search for the ingredients and calculate the total recipe.

This functionality is required in Garmin Connect Nutrition to be competitive.

  • Fully agree. I'm missing this too.

Currently I'm "misusing" meal for this and then have to adjust every single ingredient by hand.

I just want to have a meal/recipe and then log that I ate 1/3, 1/4 or whatever and have the app figure out the rest.

  • Completely agree. My free trial is about to expire and as someone who cooks heathy recipes from whole ingredients, current format is to much of a faff and a dealbreaker. I’d prefer a one stop shop for my fitness tracking. Sadly, I’m using MyNetDiary and Strong apps to supplement Garmin. Connect+ isn’t quite ready for me.

  • Thank you for the feedback, all. While I can't promise anything will change with this in the future, it has been passed along to be sure your idea has been heard.

  • Agree, not moving to Connect+ without this feature

  • same, wont consider switching without this feature

  • I would also like this feature, as I’m currently baking cookies, and dividing everything by 24 is a pain.

  • Making cookies. Dividing one cup of butter by 24 is silly, having the individual ingredients for a cookie come up in my lunch log is sillier.

  • Connect+ without the ability to add recipes significantly reduces its functionality when compared to my Fitness Pal.

My free trial is coming to an end and this will probably be the reason I don’t extend.

  • Exactly. The Nutrition-section is quite unusable without this. Although, there is a workaround: create custom meal, and take note of the macros of the meal, and add them as custom entry to My Foods. I guess My Foods are private and not showing to other people? Extra work though, and of course you have to measure/calculate the final weight as well to know amounts of macros per 100g.

  • I couldn't agree more. I'm a home baker and a chef. I have some repeat recipes that my other apps can build and keep, then modify later if the ingredients change. The for me to pay $10 more per month, I'd at least need a functional recipe builder
