Device synced on Garmin Express but not Garmin Connect App or Web

I accidentally created a second Garmin Connect account and since then my device does not sync on my primary account anymore. The device is connected to the phone and it shows live data (for example my body battery and heart rate right now) but not the data since I created the second account (history of sleep, body battery, HR, stress etc). Strangely the activity I did after the second account creation is there. When I press sync, the white arrow goes around the circle and shows the green tick as if it updated the data but it's not updating.

I tried solving the issue by deleting the second (accidentally created) Connect account, removing my device from bluetooth and Connect on both the phone and computer, adding it again. I reinstalled Garmin Express on my computer and connected the device with the cable. On Garmin Express it says the device was synced seconds ago. On Connect (web and phone) it says it was last synced a day ago. The device on both Express and Connect has the correct serial number (same as the one at the back of the watch).

Note: I've been using Connect for months, but I installed Express just two days ago and this is when I created the second Connect account. I wonder if Express still thinks it should be linked to the second account, even though I removed the device several times and re-added it logging in to my original Connect account.

  • The data you synced to the wrong account is already lost (unless you backed it up before deleting the account), and won't be recovered. You can only recover missing activities, since they should be still on the watch, in the folder //GARMIN/Activity/, and can be imported manually to Garmin Connect Web.

    If you still continue missing some recent data, then repeat the removal/adding of the watch from all Garmin apps, by following the instructions in the hint #4 of the Troubleshooting guide for (some) data missing after syncing. 

  • Thank you for your answer! Once the second account was confirmed to be deleted by the Garmin team, I was again able to sync the data on the original account. I indeed lost the 2-3 days the issue lasted but it's no big deal.
    So it seems that in my case, deleting the second account was the only possible solution to the problem.
