My Garmin 310XT will not upload data or download the update.

What should i do?
  • It's looking more and more like you might have corrupt data on your device that his preventing communication. Can you live without the history on your device? If so, then do a hard reset. This will wipe all personal data off of the device, including all history, courses, workouts, and settings. It will restore the device to day one factory defaults. If you don't want to do this, then try deleting just courses and any history you can live without. But you may be forced to do the hard reset.

    To do a hard reset:

With the watch powered off hold down the mode button, continue to hold down mode while pressing and holding the power button, after a few seconds release both buttons. When prompted, select yes. You'll then be guided through the setup process like the first time you turned on your watch.
  • Thanks. I thought it would probably come to that. I have written down the data so I'll have it to manually enter. I'll give this a shot tomorrow and keep you posted. Thanks for your help.
  • Hard reset is pretty much the cure-all for the device. You can try deleting individual activities. I'd start with deleting the oldest activity first, since after that was when the problems started. Anyway, it's worth a shot.
  • Hi Seilogramp,
i followed all your instruction you gave for helixbc but no luck, my Garmin Connect is stuck to Sept 12th adn i have several activities in my device which are not transferred. When i connect the device, it tells me "transferring data", I see the icon of the agent running and at the end the agent tell me "data transferred correctly" but i don't see them on the activity list....i really don't know what to do....

    Ant Agent 2.2.7
    Internet Explorer 6.0
    Device with Sw realease 2.4

Also, i can't find any history on my hard disk

Thanks a lot for the support.

Hello Seilogramp, i too am have the same problem.
I see my history data within Garmin Connect, I choose the send it to my 310xt, the ANT software goes through all the motions of sending the data to my 310xt but when it's finished my Garmin reports "no history saved".

The ANT by the way, successfully sends my profile information after doing the hard reset you recommended earlier, just not accepting history from ANT agent.

I also successfully upgraded the OS in my Garmin 310xt wirelessly from 2.5 to 2.6, it just won't accept history info from the ANT.

    Really puzzled by this problem.

Is there a way of sending the data via usb to my Garmin 310xt ??

    Mike

What exactly are you trying to send to the 310xt? You can't send history. Are you trying to send a course?
  • Restore data to 310xt

    SEILOGRAMP,

Previously recorded history back into my 310xt.

How do i restore my data back into the 310xt after doing a hard reset where the data has been wiped ? From backup and restore? The option to restore is there.

You can't put history back on the device. You can send courses, workouts, personal data, but not history. I assume you're seeing backup and restore in the Training Center software. That is strictly for backing up and restoring data in Training Center. Nothing to do with your device.
  • Restoring data to 310xt

Oh ... that's really too bad.

I had the Garmin 305 and on it you could restore history information, previous runs (etc).
Sounds like they made the 310xt do one way sync of info to your desktop.

Well ... thanks for the help anyway ... cheers

 Just like the 310 you also cannot send history to the Forerunner 305.
