Goals: Set start date in the past

When creating a new goal, it is not possible to set a start date in the past.

Even when creating a monthly goal on September 10th, I have to set the next 1st of the month (October 1st) as the start date. It's not possible to set Sepember 1st as the start.

It's the same with weekly (7-day) goals: They have to start "today" or later. It's not possible to create a 7-day goal on a Wednesday and set the start date to the Monday of the same week (or Sunday, for those who start the week on that day).

I would like to create a 6-month goal and set the start to July 1st. Not possible.
I would like to create a monthly goal that starts on the 1st of this month. Not possible.

Why this strange limitation? I have all my activities for the past uploaded, and Garmin should be able to use those in calculating goals too, not just future activities,

Please make it possible to set start dates in the past.

(And +1 for repeating goals too! :-)

Hello! I just thought I would bring this issue to the forefront again. I had a few good runs last week, but was unable to set up a goal for the week due to the inability to back date.

It appears from this thread that this issue was acknowledged as a problem back in October 2009. As a result:

    1) I was just curious 'when' of 'if' this will ever be resolved?
    2) Maybe in the short term, you could grant us users the ability to back date up to 30 days while the developers work on some of the other date parameters requested in this thread?

Just a question and a suggestion from a happy user of the 405 for two years now! Thanks in advance!
  • Another vote to be able to set goal start dates in the past.

Recurring goals would be great as well but less crucial.

And another echo of why does it take a year to get enhancements like this deployed?
  • The OBVIOUS thing her is to be able to set goals for what ever date or length of time i.e. a 4 day goal or a 11 week one. Just allow people to select the date range.

I would like to add to the goal. My goals are diffrent for example i may want to be able to run seven miles without stopping. I may give myself 3 weeks to accive this. If i create a 7 mile goal and give my self 3 weeks it will record every workout i do and i will have that goal occomplised in less then a week but it will be a combination of workouts. I would like the ability to set a seven mile goal and maybe a option to say in a single workout this way when i upload my data if one single workout is not 7 miles it will not add anything to the goal. I would also like the ability to add time to this type of workout. Lets say i want to run 1 mile in 5:30 every one mile work out that is uploaded it would compare the times and give me the percent completion of my goal i dont care about monthly milage goals or weekly miliage goals i set hard goals based on workouts and at the moment the goals do nothing for me. There should be more workout oriented goals.
