Goals: Set start date in the past

When creating a new goal, it is not possible to set a start date in the past.

Even when creating a monthly goal on September 10th, I have to set the next 1st of the month (October 1st) as the start date. It's not possible to set Sepember 1st as the start.

It's the same with weekly (7-day) goals: They have to start "today" or later. It's not possible to create a 7-day goal on a Wednesday and set the start date to the Monday of the same week (or Sunday, for those who start the week on that day).

I would like to create a 6-month goal and set the start to July 1st. Not possible.
I would like to create a monthly goal that starts on the 1st of this month. Not possible.

Why this strange limitation? I have all my activities for the past uploaded, and Garmin should be able to use those in calculating goals too, not just future activities,

Please make it possible to set start dates in the past.

(And +1 for repeating goals too! :-)

    Good point

This issue has bothered me as well. I would like to see it changed as well, thanks for pointing it out.

Agreed. Being able to set repeats on goals would be good too, so that you can set them on on a weekly or monthly basis and new ones get auto generated once the current one is done.

Further, I would very much like to be able to create goals longer than just one month. How about 3-, 6-, and 12-month goals.

ditto me on this thread + 1 for repeating goals and let me define the periods.

    +1

Simply so I don't have to remember to start a new monthly goal the day after the current month finishes (...it's not possible to set this up in advance if you want to compete against a value for the current month you don't yet have).

That's nice, but when can we receive feedback about the actions that has been taken to fix this bug?
Otherwise this forum is nothing more then a mushroom plant (keep them in the dark!)....

Back in July-09 you say you "hear you guys". We're well into 2010 and no action or comments. Any chance we (the users) can get an update?

Also, back in Sep-09 there was a request for recurring goals. Same thing from Garmin "We hear you", but no action. Only crickets chirping.

Goal - start in the past

I Completely second this request. You just finished a good workout yesterday and today - and it inspires you to set a goal for the week. You can't include yesterday's workout.

    Doesn't make sense.

Also - I big improvement would be the ability to set up recurring goals. For example, I'd like to set a goal of burning 3,000 calaries per week - every week. I'd like to see how ofter I made my goal when I glance at my calendar. I should not have to redo this goal every week. I don't know about the rest of you, but this would motivate me a lot.
