Metric - Statute

I`am from Norway and we are using the metric standard.

I think it`s very annoying that everytime we for example click on a link to GC, the result appear in the statute standard. The text on the site appear in norwegian. Then we have to change it manually. For visitors following a link, its difficult to se the statute/metric button in the corner.

Is it possible to link the number-system (metric/statute) to the text-language on the page, so miles or kilometers will appear automaticly?
  • Currently this cannot be done. But maybe in a future update.

I am from Denmark, and I too find this behavior very annoying. Not only might visitors not see or understand the "View in metric" link, also if they DO find it and click it, visitors are forwarded to some random activities in San Francisco not connected to me in any way!! And there are no obvious way back to the activity I was sharing. Not even the browsers Back-button works here! :(

It should be possible to see which part of the world visitors come from by looking at their IP-address. Ideally you could use that to determine a default choice of metric or statute for visitors.

Besides that, a possibility to specify metric or statuette in the URL would also be nice. I can hardly imagine anyone looking at my activities would want to see them in statute.

This has been addressed and will be changed in a future update.

The feature was in the last release but pulled last minute due to the way it assigned locations for certain countries. But the UI components for the feature were not removed. It's back in the next major release scheduled for late August to early September and a bulk process will be run to assign locations to the existing activities.

This still does not appear to be done! Is that correct??
We are now in April 2010 many months past the time you said this would be addressed.
Are we any closer to a resolution??

    Metric - Statute

...also when embedding using the embed-code I would like to be able to specify it to be shown in Metric.

...also when looking at my activities (or others) using the RSS feed I would like to be able to specify it to be shown in Metric.

    regards

Base 10 units are the best.

I would also like to register my dislike of the imperial default units. Its a nuisance to have to deal with measurements the majority of the world has left behind in the last century.

    No news from Garmin?

When will this error be fixed. It is very annoying and practically of no use until we can show our informations in metric values.

    Please, get into gear.
