You could post your suggestion in the feature requests section of this forum. However, the current list contains mostly movement-type activities, or activities that require movement from point A to point B. My guess is that when more and more users start using non-gps activities, then some other activities might be added, such as court sports.
Also, check out the What's New page for current and upcoming changes.
Actually, I've moved this thread to the Feature Request thread.
There are a few non-movement activity types. Indoor Cardio is one. I use that one all the time. That is a big improvement over MB, imo. The ability to have non-GPS activities in my report.s :D
But if enough people are using the activities you suggest, it's possible they could be added. I can see the reasoning behind not allowing members to create their own activity types.
But something that has been brought up before is some sort of tagging system so people can tag their activities however they want. I think that would be fun.
I guess it depends on your definition of jogging. Most would call it running. Some would call it running but at a slower, more casual pace. Personally, I don't think there needs to be an additional "jogging" category. The issue of comparing joggers to runners has been beaten to death more than once, going back to my days of MS-DOS and 2400 baud dial-up modem to CompuServe.
There is currently no Activity Type for orienteering in Garmin Connect. Since this sport lends itself ideally to the capabilities and features of Garmin fitness devices, it should have a place as a standard Activity Type under the "Running" heading. I also noticed that Geocaching is no longer available as an activity type (it was in MotionBased). While I do not geocache, I think it should have its entry too. Check out this blog post where I combine data from my Forerunner 305 with Google Maps to recap an orienteering race.
Nice! I looked at your blog post. Very nice mapping. I've always thought mounted orienteering would be fun. I use my GPS units for endurance horseback riding. My running and fitness training is all to help me in endurance training.
Hope your request gets granted and the orienteering type gets added back.
