REVERSION TO PRIOR GARMIN CONNECT HOME PAGE

Dear Garmin CEO and Connect Team:

The only reason Garmin exists and you have a job is to serve your customers by providing us with the products and services we want. The response to the rollout of your new Connect Home Page clearly suggests that your customer base is very unhappy with the layout. It reminds me of the introduction of Coca Cola's New Coke, a product nobody asked for.

At a minimum you should enable us to revert to the prior layout and possible eliminate the new layout. The new side-by-side layout and need to click See All to see my data, truely adds nothing.

Please reply to your customers if you will revert to the prior layout, so that we, in turn, can decide if we need to switch to one of your competitors' platforms.

Thank you in advance for your immediate attention and response.

  • Ahhh thats a pain... Wish I coud help further... Though one option is in my bio... works great.. just make sure you create an account too login with otherwise you have issues

  • It isn't that bad, I don't have to look at the Connect app lol, but I do appreciate that link, it looks so much better than the current Connect webpage.

  • Maybe you'll report this response and it will get deleted as well but shame on you if you do, but I said nothing of the sort, you did not read the post correctly and you take snippets of a sentence out of context.

I will clarify for you - I said that this version of the app and webpage were created for the users who complained that Garmin was too complicated and too data rich. They wanted a platform that was simple, with less data and with structured customization which is exactly what this update is. It defers to those who buy the watch who want to change their lifestyle. Look at all the promotion of the Venu3 going on - lifestyle watch. No coincidence that this update was rolled out at the same time the Venu3 is being heavily promoted.

I also do think it is very possible that Garmin is gearing up to make the app subscription based. You may not think so but unless you have some inside information or work for Garmin you can't say that they won't. The way they have changed this app/webpage makes it ripe for having features that have been removed placed behind a paywall.

I did not say that I can not train with this app, I still train but I choose other options because I do not like the dumbed down new versions of the app/webpage, they do not offer me a user interface that I find as useful as the previous versions, it is time-consuming to click and scroll and swipe and I would rather be doing something productive. I don't need to spend more time on my phone or my computer looking a stats that used to be available in a 'true' glance all at once in connect or on my dashboards on the webpage..

  • Look at all the promotion of the Venu3

I'm sorry, I don't know the advertising for the Venu 3.

I am not the target group for Venu

We actually use forerunner 965, tactix 7 pro, instinct 2x, GPSmap65s, EtrexSE

I also do think it is very possible that Garmin is gearing up to make the app subscription based. You may not think so but unless you have some inside information or work for Garmin you can't say that they won't.

    1) I didn't say it wouldn't be like that. I said "I don't think so". If there was a misunderstanding here, I'm sorry. English is not my native language.
    2) You don't KNOW either. You think it will happen. I don't think it will.

    Maybe you'll report this response

I don't know what there is to report here. The post is related to the topic.

  • Yeah I doubt they’ll make Connect subscription based. Their entire (old school) business model is that you pay for the hardware once and you get all the features. Why would anyone pay a premium for a Garmin watch when they’d have to pay again to subscribe to Connect?

Contrast with Apple Watch where you pay for the hardware and the basic platform, but you’re expected to fill in any feature gaps by using third party apps.

if Garmin really wanted to alienate all its existing customers and destroy all their accumulated goodwill, they’d make Connect subscription based. At that point, why not switch to Apple Watch?

Otoh, a lot of runners wouldn’t notice, as long as they could continue to use Strava.

  • The Venu 3 is being highly promoted by Garmin right now - it is a lifestyle watch which matches the new Connect/webpage design.

     1) your words were as below, not "I don't think so":

Maybe they are going to make it subscription based

    Certainly not.

    2) I didn't say that I did know, I speculated and gave my reasons for thinking so.

My previous response to your post was deleted and it was also related to the topic.

Regardless, you and I will never agree and I have neither the desire not the time to go back and forth anymore.

  • your words were as below, not "I don't think so":

Once again. I have already said "English is not my home language". I'm sorry if there was a misunderstanding because of that. I meant "I don't think so“. In German, you can also say "sicherlich nicht" for the same statement. So „certainly not“.

My previous response to your post was deleted and it was also related to the topic.

I don't know what you are trying to say. Some posts have been deleted. Mine too.

  • Technically we already pay for the app when we purchase the device so it isn't really free, but do I hope they don't make it subscription based - of course. But I would pay for a subscription to Connect if it meant better software all around.

  • Technically we already pay for the app when we purchase the device so it isn't really free

However, other apps are also included in the purchase price. Not just Connect.

Explore, Tread, Connect IQ and other things such as Clipboard, Dive, Basecamp, etc. are also included.

  • This might be why Garmin has software issues, too many apps and too many different models of watches.
