Changing Personal Records on garmin connect

Recently, I have bought epix pro 47mm, my first garmin watch. I have uploaded a couple of my gpx tracks downloaded from strava to garmin connect. I encountered two issues:

1. The old recordings are shown among my runs in the calendar on my garmin connect app on my ios mobile BUT the times are not included among the personal records nor in the watch.

2. If I try to manually change my personal records on garmin connect on the web, they do not get saved (firefox nor safari). I tried to connect my watch and trying "send to device" button but I assume it sends only the choice of the personal records "lengths" but not the times themselves. The personal record times get deleted immediately from the web once I refresh the page.

Anyone else encountered this issue with garmin connect web?

Ps: Apologies for the double-posting.

  • Records come from a watch and also you need to confirm those on the page, to dismiss wrong ones. So ye, won't show from imported activities.

So do new activities or enter manually - editing should look like this or open some activity and set it as a record using Gear️.

  • There is a small bug in the personal records page that if you press enter after you updated the personal record it will not save even if you press the green checkmark. Do not hit enter. Just write the numbers and then click the green checkmark and the record is saved.

I don't believe you can send the records to the watch. I've tried it but it doesn't work. Just ignore that. The records are in Garmin Connect. The ones on the watch are since it was new or since factory reset. Just let it be like that.

  • Makes sense.

For some reason manually changing the records even through just the green mark instead of enter still does not work. But more importantly I can go into the activities and and use the wheel button and set them as PR through the activities folder. So, my issue is solved. Thanks!

Hm, it does work for me all right (with Instinct 2). I just retested it again, to see whether it did not change lately, but it still works as it did for me always. In fact it is an important functionality, because when you edit records, or reject some, the watch needs to get the feedback and refresh the PR table, in order to be able detecting new records correctly.

Perhaps you could retest again, I'd be surprised if it did not work with other models. I could imagine it does not work with some very old models, but it worked all right even with my previous Instinct 1st gen.

  • What worked through garmin connect:

    1. upload old gpx activity

    2. go into the activity. Set as PR using the wheel on the side. e.g. as 1km

    3. go into Personal Records tab and first change manually the time from the total time of the activity to the correct time for the given PR distance.

    4. "send to device"

-> this results in the updated records also on my watch

What I did wrong was that I was trying to assign time without assigning the recorded activity to the PR first. Thanks again for all the help!

  • I did a test now and it worked perfectly! I removed all cycling records and then sent them from the web. I also did test when I manually changed one of the records on the web and then sent the records again. That worked as well.
