Hello,
Why don't miles logged on a Garmin bike count towards Garmin badges?
Thanks,
Are you assuming the OP doesn't have a garmin watch? I did not see that in the posts, hence I replied as I did.
"miles logged on a Garmin bike" is not saying no watch.
I get miles logged…
That’s the frustration. A Garmin device WAS used. It was a Tacx NEO. I have the same issue with with my Tacx NEO 2T. I have a $1k+ Garmin trainer. I’m also linking my HR for the ride with my FR 955 watch…
It is the logging device that must be a Garmin device. The trainer is just the sensors just like a chest strap.
The distance between the Edge, Tacx app, Zwift and other services will never be the same. It is because it is calculated differently.

A solution some users use is to disconnect Zwift from Connect and only have it connected to Strava. Then also log the ride with the Edge to get it into Connect. The distance will of course be different but that is as it should be. Usually you will get a longer distance on Connect. At least that is what I get.
Another solution is to add a Garmin device to the logged activity using Fit File Tools.

I’m also linking my HR for the ride with my FR 955 watch and I have the premium Tacx subscription. I prefer to ride on the Strava app with friends/groups over the Tacx app.
If I dual log my workout with the edge computer or Tacx app it NEVER syncs up to my ride accurately.
I get this users frustration and when I’m logging a workout ON a Garmin device, I should get credit. Period.
I think about the only thing users can do here is contact Garmin Support directly to request they change this.
Recall Garmin bought the Tacx company a few years ago. Before that the badges were only given for activities recorded on Garmin-made devices, and even then I believe virtual indoor activities were excluded entirely. Since then they've expanded it to include virtual rides (and I assume virtual runs?) and also the Tacx ride app that they now own. So today we have the 2 options that have already been mentioned in the first reply: either use the Garmin Tacx ride app, or use any other app and record with a Garmin device.
I think it would be great too if Garmin expanded it again, to include any Garmin *sensor* being used: Tacx trainers / bike, Vector / Rally power meter pedals, HRM, etc. (Tho tbh for me personally the badges are still relatively meaningless.)
I think you’re absolutely right and couldn’t agree more.
Exactly. And, BTW e7andy, I have tried to run both the Tacx App and Zwift Companion and it DOES NOT WORK. The Tacx App will not connect to my bike when I have Zwift running.
