Depends what you do, for running or cycling it should be easy as there is distance.
Like VO₂ max which can be measured by distance you made during 12 minutes. If you got further, then it's better.
For other fitness, maybe it compares with resting heart rate.
I don't do stuff with a distance.
Resting heartrate might be a thing, yes.
