Hi.
I have a Garmin Forerunner 220.
As I grow older, my times naturally slow. It becomes less and less likely that I will set another PR. In addition, I might have periods where I am recovering from a long illness. It would be nice to be able to periodically reset personal records in my Forerunner. It is encouraging when I finish a run, and the Forerunner shows I have (a) new record(s).
I know I can do this by resetting records in the 220. But, when the 220 gets synchronized with my data in Garmin Connect Web, my old records are loaded back into the 220. I could reset the 220 records and the Connect records. But, I'd like to retain the records in Connect Web.
I propose Garmin Connect have a feature "Create Personal Records Group". This would create a set of personal records that have not yet been set. When the Forerunner is synchronized, it "sees" only the current (most recent) Personal Records Group.
An alternative is to add a date field to the Garmin Connect Web app, and allow users to enter a date. When the web data and Forerunner are synchronized, the Forerunner "sees" only the fastest mile, 5K, 10K, half, marathon times and longest run distance that occurred after that date.
I believe such a feature will add to the enjoyment aging runners receive from their runners' watches.
