Sync Issue with Courses 530 Edge

Hi,

Komoot courses show up correctly on my laptop on garmin connect, but does not sync / upload to Edge

Syncs successfully and connects to wifi & BT no issues.

Any ideas why it refuses to update the courses?

  • Update the courses (change already existing courses) or sync new routes to the Edge?

  • Change already existing courses.

Garmin connect has the correct course as viewed on my laptop but doesn't seem to want to sync / update Edge unit.

  • It is risky to update an existing course or use the same name as existing courses. It is better to duplicate the course, name it differently and sync it. You can't just change the ending of a name if the name of the course is long since it seems like the name matching isn't done for the full name. It is better to change the beginning of the name to make sure the name is considered to be different.

It can be a good idea to use an incrementing number to make sure the name is unique. I prefix my courses in Strava with "Ride" or "Run" and then add a number and after that a more descriptive name. Example: Ride12-LongSouth110K, Run23-ShortTrail8K

  • I made changes to the names to make them easier to read on the Edge, the changes were at the end of the names mostly.

What if I deleted all the courses on my laptop by going into the edge memory / course folder and do a bulk delete and then re sync, that would quick and easy to do?

Many thxs for your recommendations :o)

  • The course will not sync to the Edge automatically. You need to click send to device for each course in Garmin Connect.

  • I've had this a week so am new user, the initial download of routes went on in one go, can I not expect the same to happen again....?

  • No, after it has synced a first time the course will not automatically be synced again.

If it synced automatically it would be impossible to remove the courses on the device.

  • Thxs got it, another bug for Garmin to fix sometime I'm thinking....

  • Not a bug. The memory on the device is limited so the routes shouldn't sync automatically after the first time.
