What are the number of points needed for Levels from challenges/ badges?

Please can Garmin publish a list of how many total points are  needed for each level as well as how many points to the next level.

Also I have heard that there are now 10 levels, can you confirm this?

Has anyone tried to keep track of each time they get a new level and the points to the next level? If so we can workout a few of the numbers.

  • 3 years to level 6, 6 years to 7, 12 years to 8, 24 to 9 and 48 to 10. You'll be pretty old.

I am already pretty old, so it won't change much Slight smile Despite it, I am already level 7 recently, so it did not take that long. Still just 3 years and a month using Garmin. Points dropping in faster and faster with all those challenges available.

  • With exception that there are no limits for the “Challenge Champ” badge.  I saw someone at level 10 with several thousand of those but hardly any other badges.  There are even people whose location has become “no challenges”.

  • When Garmin added the 250 limit they didn't remove the already won badges if they were over the limit. They can't get any more of those badges.

I've got a connection with 45130 won challenges.

  • The system focuses on a limited palette of sports. I adde more ideas for some others: XC, Ski Touring, Climbing Slight smile

Not everyone walks for miles…some ski ;)

  • The fact that we say

To reach level 10 it will take about 41 years.

"That's not that bad" to get it down to 39 years is ABSURD. Imagine if you had to be at your

What was the actual math/statistics used behind setting the levels? This was just a stretch random setting based on

To get from a 5to a 6 will take me between 5-6 years - based on monthly challenges, running 2 half marathons a year, running 1-2 Ragnars a years, putting in an additional 600-900 miles of running on a yearly basis. Garmin just made the badge system the equivalent of getting a promotion at work. EXCEPT you get paid for that :)

  • You get paid by doing all those challenges with something that is worth a lot more than money: Your health ;)

I just reached level 7 and it took me 4.5 years. Note that the challenges have only been around for 2.5 years so I would've reached level 7 a lot earlier if they existed for 4.5 years ago. With 250 points/year I got 36 years left until I'm level 10. Yay!

Level 5 to 6 is 320 points. All challenges every month will give you ~250 points for a year. Half marathons don't give any points (that badge is not repeatable so only the first will give you points). I don't know what "Ragnars" are and how many points they give, but let's say it is at least a marathon so 8 points each. Over 250 points per year. You can do it faster than 5 years even if you skip all biking.

If everyone could reach level 10 within a year or two, the level 10 would be completely worthless, and you would not have any motivation anymore after reaching it.

If you need 5-6 years to get from level 5 to 6 (320 points), then you do something wrong. With a little bit of effort, you can gain it easily in one year, and if you really want, you'll do it in 6 months. I am no athlete, just an average old guy, not running any marathons, and in 1209 days of using Garmin, I gained 1394 points. That makes 1.15 point per day in average, and it is possible to do much better than that.

  • Just got my kids a Garmin each to start working toward 10 and who knows Garmin might add 10 Levels more to a total of 20 levels

  • It takes about 40 years to reach level 10. A level 11 would take another 40 years or so it would be pretty pointless. This badge system will probably not exist in 40 years.
