It can be done in the web browser. No need to do it on the phone.
I just hit my 400k steps and the link doesn't work. It takes me to the Starbucks app but nothing happens.

Yup! I called up Starbucks and they were of no help. So I have a ticket currently logged with Garmin. So far they've asked for a screenshot and send a diagnostics file. A buddy of mine had his points awarded immediately. Bad luck I guess.
