Rouvy sync to Garmin connect, ride is not count in Garmin challenges

Hi all, I am using tacx neo 2T and Rouvy app. Recently, Rouvy made ride syncing available to Garmin Connect. Everything is working fine, the only thing missing is for the ride to count towards Garmin challenges. Is this in the plan or is there some reason why it's not counting? Thank you in advance for reply.

  • Over £1k of Garmin gear that goes through the Connect app,  which they log,  but don't count!

If you actually use your expensive Garmin device for logging the indoor ride, you will get the badge.

  • Not their Smarttrainers. JoyWink

  • Not their Smarttrainers.

Smarttrainers do not record any activities. They are just the mechanics with couple of sensors. You still need to record the activity with something. If you use a Garmin device (watch, Edge), or a Garmin app (Tacx Training app), you will get the badge. If you use an app of another brand, ask a badge on their end.

  • My issue is, even though the Tacx uploads to Connect and records the ride, it doesn't count towards totals/ badges like it used to. So both road rides and indoor rides appear in Connect but for no good reason they discontinued 3rd party data towards totals which is crazy when we're using Garmin gear... It is supposed to be a connected world, not exclusive. Garmin is not playing nice.

  • Tacx uploads to Connect and records the ride, it doesn't count towards totals/ badge

Tacx trainers alone do not upload any activities to Connect. They do it either through the Tacx Trainer app, or trough Garmin devices. And in both cases you get the badge. I have them almost all, so I do know that it works. Imported activities from other platforms do not count, but nothing can prevent you recording the activity with a Garmin product even if you use a 3rd party app like Rouvy or Zwift.

  • And right there is the answer. To *** with everyone elses trainer. Go out and buy one of ours.

  • Not all. You can use trainers from other brands. The only requirement is that you log the activity with a Garmin device. The trainer is not logging anything.

  • Sorry if I am confusing things, I am using all Garmin devices (watch, HRM, Tacx, Edge etc), and in this instance the Rouvy app to complete an indoor ride - everything is connected and everything uploads and links to Connect, Strava etc - Strava takes my Rouvy virtual data and adds it to my totals - Connect, logs the Rouvy data but doesn't add it to my totals when it comes to Connect challenges - even though everything I have is Garmin? It is like saying if I don't ride a Garmin bike on the road it won't log my data - I'm using Garmin everything, except the route I am choosing to ride on another piece of software? It used to log it - some say a bug blocks it, others say it's a Garmin decision - which seems unfair when totally committing to and investing in their equipment that they won't log my data from all connected apps, why connect with them if it doesn't use the data properly? It literally makes no sense.

  • I repeat - you have to record the activity with a Garmin device (watch or Edge) or a Garmin app (Tacx Training). Activities imported from 3rd party platforms do not count (unless you hack them). Such are the rules. Whether it makes any sense to you or not, is another question. Apparently it makes sense to Garmin, and that's what counts. The rules are the same for everyone, so either you adhere to them (which costs you nothing), and get the badge like others do, or you do it in your way, and won't have the badge.

  • It is not about it making sense, it is that when I purchased all Garmin items they were connected and working and this became part of my routine for many years, and then they changed it - no warning - just one day and many hours spent trying to reconnect long rides, we find out someone somewhere decided to turn it off - now if that makes sense to you - fabbo - for the 1000's of posts I've seen about this, it has cheesed a lot of people off - with numerous data hacks about how to upload the data manually - if I had known this was coming I would have invested in a different company - so it is a fair question, whether you think it needs to make sense to me or not  - I was sold a connected product that then changed the goal posts - will I buy Garmin in the future... therein lies a question the company should seriously consider....
