Help Fixing a Corrupt .FIT File

Hello! Went out for a nice run this morning, my Forerunner 35 seemed to work the entire time and I saved my activity as usual when finished. My watch is showing the run (though the mile/lap data is missing) but it will not upload to Garmin Connect and I cannot manually import it either (Garmin says "it was not accepted").

Could somebody point me in the right direction to fix the file? Tried the online fit file repair tool and kept getting error messages. Thanks!!!!

Here is a link to the file: [solved]

  • Ran it through FIT File Viewer—it works in the browser and can often fix corrupted files. I tested your file, and it imported successfully into Garmin Connect.

Can I ask for help with fixing this fit file? Watch has restarted during saving of an activity. I have tried available online tools, but non helped with neither fixing nor spotting what section might be corrupted.

Did you try FIT File Viewer? I used it to repair your file, then it imported successfully into Garmin Connect.

  • Thank you @sailogramp - the fixed file provided is working!

Yes, I have "used" fit file viewer, but either I am dumb in that matter, but I cannot find a way to fix fix a file with that specific tool. If you would be so kind to add some info how you have used that tool to output working file it would be great and will help me not to do it myself next time :)

  • I have opened a file in https://www.fitfileviewer.com/ but I cannot see any download file button other than download as CSV (on top and next to data sections) or export to GPX (by some sections) - a screenshot of download fit file button location after uploading would be helpful - would you be so kind and provide. Thank you for the effort!

  • I cannot see any download file button

  • Thanks for the video - eventually it allowed me to find the issue: it was my web browser which has cached something that looked like an old version of FIT File Viewer online app. Clearing web browser's cache and app data for the site solves the issue and a new online app has been loaded - in which the button to download a fixed file shown up right there and error in file has also been marked (so I have now more understanding of what have been wrong there with the data).

Once more big thanks for the help!

  • Good evening, dear friend.

I have a problem with uploading a workout from my Fenix 8 watch to Garmin Connect.

The workout was saved correctly on the watch, and I can see the .fit file on it.

However, when I try to copy it via the browser, the upload fails and I get an error message.

I would appreciate your help in fixing the file. Thank you in advance.
