Coach training VS watch Training Status...

Hello
I'm using the forerunner 745, which is great.
Lately, I have started using the Garmin coach plan.
I'm following the planned schedule, but it looks like there's no sync between the watch data and the training apps.
My forerunner says I should rest for the next 64 hours, but Coach 10K says I should run 2 runs in the next 48 hours, and not only that but longer runs than I'm used to.

Did anyone experience it before? I don't want to miss training and I don't want to hurt my body Slight smile

  • Does it really say that you should rest for the next 64 hours? There is a description of what you should do if you press the start button while viewing the recovery time.

The recovery time doesn't mean you should rest. It means that you have recovered form the previous activities after that time. You can continue to train during that period, but should avoid doing any intense training or races since you will probably not be at your best.

  • Ok maybe I described it wrong.
Can the Garmin tell you to rest?
It ss says that my recovery needs are high. It's a good idea to take it easy and tell me I have 55 hours left.
I ran today easy... (4km 6:30 for 1 km) and I have another run tomorrow of almost 6km.
Right now it says that my training status is - overreaching. The fitness arrow points down and while I'm running it shows poor or fair performance condition.
On the other hand - the Garmin Coach plan says I did a good job and next run the distance increasing and my confidence level is green...

    I'm confused...

  • I don't think they are connected. They base their assessments on different things.

I think that the training status looks more to the physiological values and the coach looks more at your performance on the workouts in the plan.

The important thing is to "listen" to your body. How do you feel? Training status can be wrong and the coach can be wrong. They only try to assess the data you put into the system so at lot depends on the data you've entered and what the watch measures.

  • I'm feeling good. I will continue to run. I just wondered about the stats.
But as I understand it is exactly what I thought... I would hope there will be a kind of synchronizing between the two.
I would think that if the training status shows you need to recover and you are overreaching - the coach will rearrange the schedule or at least take it easier instead of increasing the distance. It is just weird that one says 'good job' while the other says 'overreaching' or 'poor performance' ....

    Thanks for the answers.

  • I agree with this but feel that the documentation and possibly the UI should reflect this.
