If the file was inadvertently deleted, you have a slim chance of recovering the .fit file using a file recovery tool. However, the more you use your watch the less likely it is recoverable, as those are…
What was the distance supped to be? I see about 2.9 miles or 4.7 km.

Some fit files can be fixed by FIT File Tools, using the section remover without any adjustments. The result can then be uploaded to Garmin Connect Web using the Import Data page. I tested your file, so this…
Hello!
Thanks for running the file again. As you say that file contains a lot more data (power, heart rate etc.) but is 2km shorter. The file I linked last night does look like it would be about the right size for the remainder, but it would be strange to be seperated from the rest (I recovered that using a different recovery tool).
To answer your questions:
I didn't power off the Garmin immediately, lesson learnt
I have attached a link to of all the Files recovered from the Head Unit...

If it helps the part I'd really like to recover is the final 5mins of the activity which would be somewhere between approx. 3.20 & 3.40pm GMT.
Thanks again, you really are a star!

More help needed. I had my Garmin and Fitbit running at the same time, but I didn't stop the Fitbit device in time. I used https://gpx.studio/ to trim the file, also we had a stop for lunch during which my Fitbit was never paused, so I trimmed out that section then re-merged the two GPX tracks into one. Now the file won't upload to Garmin. I converted it to a .fit file (using https://fit-route.pyrites.org.uk/) but still no good for Garmin. Used Fit File Repair Tool section remover but same thing.
Here is a link to a folder with: the final combined GPX file, the converted .fit file, and the file after trying to fix it in Fit File Tools https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1X64myf2-QDk-DQdY4Z0Dup5lUp_OM_Dq?usp=sharing
I suppose I can go back to before I trimmed out the middle section and see if the last file that worked on Garmin can have the lunch break cut out with Fit File Tools maybe, but before I go back a few steps thought I'd see if you can fix this file at all.
hi me10lee83,
the combined gpx uploads ok in Garmin Connect (it shows as two separate activities)
you did not re-merged the two gpx tracks into one, they are still two tracks but only combined in one file, not as one track
try again, back to the drawing board

Thanks again for all your help, looks like I uploaded the wrong file. I tried again and this time after cutting out the relevant section, then removing the marked lines you highlighted, it uploads correctly but is still splitting it in two activities in Garmin. I've done a ctrl + f search to verify the whole file is one trkseg so not sure why this is still happening and what else needs to be done to adjust it. I put the correct file in the folder drive.google.com/.../1X64myf2-QDk-DQdY4Z0Dup5lUp_OM_Dq
Thank you, that made me wonder if it was pulling something out of my trash when I uploaded so I changed the name field in the gpx file and tried again, everything worked as expected this time! Finally have a complete, accurate activity. My husband would say "is it really worth all that work?" but getting it right is very satisfying

indeed, not giving in and going for it, just like training
