Discontinued connection to PAI Health - why??

I use a fantastic app called PAI Health (Personal Activity Intelligence). I was now told by the PAI Health team that Garmin is refusing them to access Connect data through the API that Garmin provides after Feb 10th. Why on Earth would Garmin want to stop 3rd party apps to make use of their APIs?? Can you please elaborate on this for me? Do you want to force your clients to switch to Polar, Apple or (God forbid) Fitbit or whatever??

  • A smart person would not expect the world population to check if Garmin is having a valid contract with CloudFlare and ask if the connection is really passed to Garmin and not to criminals. They can also be CloudFlare customers, do they?

Well, in that case that the smart person would not post here at all Slight smile

  • Well, all Garmin sites are without any checkable SSL certificates and there were supposedly very serious hacks last Autumn. Really?

All CloudFlare certs contain the path to the orginal (and verified) domain. You have to be the owner of that domain to be able creating the respective CloudFlare account. Check the cert details. It contains:

    DNS Name=sni.cloudflaressl.com
    DNS Name=forums.garmin.com

  • What I would expect from a serious (?) player like Garmin is a certain level of accountability with respect to business practices. They know full well that a lot of 3rd party apps connect to Garmin trackers and rely on this connection. It is not too much to ask, I will maintain, that they respect the partnerships with the other players in their ecosystem. If there is a violation of terms - say so! If you cut a partner because you want to compete - say so! Say what you mean and do what you say. Don't just ghost everyone like a coward or a teenager on Snap.

(And for those of you that think Garmin officials are not reading the forums.... get a grip! :-)    )
