Record not correctly saved

Some days ago I ran a virtual 10 km and - to grant the right execution - I ran some meters over 10 km: 10,11 km.
My time of the complete run was: 41:31 as you can see in my public track

In that occasion, I did my personal best on 10 km, but Garmin Connect saved it with the time of 41:31, not saving the real best time of 10 km.

The records on the PR page in Garmin Connect Web are editable (except of Step records), so you can just click the value and correct…

Thanks, I searched existent posts, but surely not so right.

What I don't understand why sometimes Connect keep some records on short path (1 km, 1 miles, ...) from long runs saved.

It's a bit complicated, but from what I managed to figure out it works like this:

Most recent garmin devices (but not some older ones) can automatically detect fastest PR sections in longer runs. So it is possible to get a 1 km PR in a run that is for example 20 km long. In fact, multiple PRs can be set in one long activity. However if the distance is just slightly longer than the PR distance, then not the fastest section is taken for the PR, but rather the entire activity.

But if you have a device that cannot detect PRs automatically, then Garmin Connect cannot detect fatest sections in longer runs. It will always assign the entire activity as the PR.

Not sure how it is with other models, but Garmin Instinct definitely can detect the fastest section also within a slightly longer activity (for example detecting the fastest time for 5k in a 5.09km run).

It fails detecting the record for example when you fail to approve (or reject) the previous record in Garmin Connect, or when you forget to send the PR table back to the device, after making changes in GC. And then, it will fail working correctly for example after master reset, unless you sync the PR table to the device.

And if you don't, then just go to the concerned activity, select the Trim option in the cogwheel menu menu, and trim the activity to the exact length of the record, changing the starting point so, that you get the best time. Once you find the best time, save the trim, and select Set as PR in the menu of the Activity. You can then Revert back the Activity to the original lenght (again through the cogwheel menu) - the PR will stay correct. You can even repeat it for different distances.

Thank you so much. I've a Garmin 245 Music and during that run it has firmware 5.30.
I'll evaluate to trim my original run or to find the right time.

I was just asking, my time is really irrelevant in the running world ;)

That's why it is called Personal Records - it is always nice to see own progress, and satisfactory to see the records beaten

Sure, my mantra is "speed is a relative concept" ;)
Unfortunately many persons fake record to exalt, but it isn't my case ;)
