Is Garmin Fenix1 compatible with Connect web (trough Garmin Express)?
Is Garmin Fenix1 compatible with Connect web (trough Garmin Express)?
There is no mention of Garmin Express in the Fenix 1 manual. Possibly used only for software updates.
See this thread: Fenix sync to Connect website
See support document : https://support.garmin.com/en-US/?productID=107272&tab=software
The manual and the product page do not mention Express, only Basecamp. At the same time Basecamp does not seem to be able to sync training sessions. I am planning to buy a vintage watch (I like the style) but i would not like to have a specific platform only for that as I otherwise use Express. According to the thread you sent it seems that it syncs FIT files with Express and gpx with Basecamp wich sounds a bit strange. Basically my question is whether i can syn a run or a bike ride to Connect through Express, as it happens for all Forerunners.
You might want to check the DC Rainmaker site. This review is from 2012 when the original Fenix was released: Garmin Fenix In-Depth Review
Also some "old" discussion there regarding Garmin Express and the Fenix 1.
I had a Fenix 1 until it suddenly died 3 1/2 years ago. Until then it worked with Garmin Express and also with the Garmin Connect Android App via bluetooth. Unfortunately I do not remember if activities were uploaded via bluetooth.
When connected to a computer you see the F1 as a drive and you can access the .fit files and upload them wherever you want. In contrast to the newer devices it is connected as a usb-drive and not as a media player, so this even works with a phone or tablet which supports usb-OTG.
I personally would recommend a Fenix 2 which is more or less a software-Update to the F1.
Great feature of F1 and F2 is that you can install basic maps (inofficially), which is very helpful for the track navigation, especially when you reach crossings.

Works great if you install just the maps you need to save memory. Even this is up to now not reached by Garmins competitors.
As far as I remember that was direktly possible. With my Fenix 5+ you have to copy the files to the Computer first and then you can upload them anywhere. This is in my opinion a great advantage of Garmin watches and this was also possible for my first Forerunner 110 10 years ago.
You can also copy GPS-Tracks for Navigation directly to the watch, but I don't remember in which Folder.
Easiest way to sync with Garmin Connect is of course the use of Garmin Express.
