4 years of data lost with password reset in Garmin Connect

I had to reset my password in Garmin connect and I lost 4 years of data!!!! I have used three different devices this far and has always worked in Garmin Connect in maintaining my data. Now all is gone in connect but if I check my devise under sync reports - I see the data. I tried to import it to connect and it doesn't, of course, recognise the files.....

I haven't got a reply from Garmin as yet but any advice out there?

    You certainly did not. You simply signed up a new account instead of signing in the old one. Log out, and sign in into the original one.

    That’s good to hear. I am using the same credentials to sign in, same username but I changed the password. What else can I do? Thanks and appreciate it!

    You probably don't. Or you had the device associated with two acounts already before, without noticing it (which happens indeed often to people, especially when they reinstalled the app or changed the phone), and the device was storing the data in the other account than the one you believe you were using.

    Some tips how to find your old user ID:

    • Look up your account with the help of the search box on the Connections page (or give us your original user name, and we can do it for you)
    • Try logging in with the GC Web account, to see whether it si the original full account, or the other blank one there too.
    • If you ever shared an Activity on the forum, by email, or on social media, look it up, and post it here
    • If you had any Connections or was a member of a group, ask them to send you your user ID (that's the string appearing at the end of the profile URL)

    Thanks - I tried through connections and i do see two accounts. I feel so relieved. please and me an email address that I can i send my details to merge these two account. 
    my question still remains - I only changed the password and when I signed in, me contact details remained the same as the last!!! I am just so confused. 

  • Being just an ordinary user like you, I cannot merge any accounts for you, but you can use the instructions from the support document Data is Missing from My Garmin Account After Syncing to consolidate the accounts

    As I already wrote, you probably created a second account inadvertently when reinstalling the app, or when signing up instead of signing in. I have no idea whether you used the same credentials or slightly different ones, but the user ID can differ even with the same email address, so theoretically it is perhaps possible (I did not test it though).

    Thanks - tried as instructed in the link and it didn’t work :(

  • Have a look at the post of another user that had practically idential problem today too:

    He fixed it easily by following my instructions to sign out, and signing in back with the original credentials. You probably did the same mistake as himself originally, and used the function Sign Up instead of Sign In, and perhaps you are still repeating it.

    Hi there, can I ask if you ever found a solution to this please? i had the same today, bought new phone signed into connect using same email and forgot password link, garmin seems to have set up a second account for me because i can see my old profile pic through connections on my husbands garmin,  None of my old data is showing on the new one!
